Rik Emmett can go pretty deep lyrically. And he is a STUNNING guitar magician. Charming, funny, great singer. This was my favorite band back in the day. I first saw them on the Just A Game Tour. Shooting Star opened for them here in Atlanta. Love that band too.

Don’t forget Triumph. Rush isn’t the only kick ass Canadian band. Whole band way underated! Epic is a great word to describe them. Check out Never Surrender, Lay it on the Line, Just a Game, Fight the Good Fight, Little Boy Blues just to name a few.

I wore this cassette tape out with Scorpions Black Out on the A side. I saw Triumph in 84 at the Rose bowl. Triumph was every bit as good live as the studio album. KICK ASS TRIO

Rik has always been a humble, thoughtful man. He was in his 20’s when this song was written and recorded. He was and is a family man who worked hard to not become a slave to the adoration and the false idolatry of fame. Who Rik is as a person is just as strong a reason for my love of him as his musical skills. Following Triumph through my difficult teen years kept me focused on my education and future.

Great reaction to a great suggestion, John! Triumph really kick butt, and Rick Emmett can really sing! I saw them twice in concert in the early 80’s in Kansas City and in Dallas! I grew up on triumph in the 80's. Rik Emmett band in the 90's.

The singer is also the guitarist, Rik Emmett and he is one of the greatest Canadian artists imo. You should also listen to the whole Triumph album Thunder Seven and also to Rik Emmett’s stuff he did as a solo artist after Triumph. Lots of blues, jazz and classical guitar. He is great. One of my favorite artists. Rik Emmet’s album Ipso Facto is simply remarkable.

“Fight the good fight” specifically at the 83 US festival. They were amazing in all their performances at US festival. Live not produced. Incredible how high Rik Emmett could go in his prime.

I got so excited to see you react to this song. It is one of my favorite Triumph songs and no one ever talks about it. Rik Emmitt is a great guitar player and singer. Gil Moore, their drummer does lead vocals on a number of their songs and he has a very different but excellent voice. For a taste of Gil’s vocals, listen to their song Movin’ On. It is a killer track. Cheers!
