One of my favorite albums. When I was in high school in the 80s I had to sneak to listen to it as my mother wouldn't let me listen to music, but many nights when I was 15 or 16 I would put it in my walkman and lay in the dark in my bedroom listening from start to finish, some nights 2x through. I felt free, normal, and it felt great! Cheers!

Well. Triumph is a friggin treasure. So criminally underrated. There is not one bad song on Thunder 7. Little Boy Blues is a excellent instrumental on this album. A singing drummer too. Gil Moore has great pipes also. I have seen these guys twice. Rush is my favourite but Triumph is a close second. Try Never Surrender, Fight the Good Fight, Just a Game to name a few. Best version of Rocky Mountain Way! Triumph!

Glad to see someone enjoying Triumph in this day and age. In the 80s, after hearing Allied Forces for the first time and buying all of their previous albums, they were as important a band to me as Rush and Queen were. Allied Forces, Never Surrender, and Thunder Seven were an unbelievable trilogy of albums. Sport of Kings didn't quite measure up for me, but Surveillance was an incredible album, as well. Unfortunately, after that, Rik was gone.

Triumph was another Canadian band that, like Rush, achieved success in the 70's and 80's w/ a similar rock sound mixed w/ prog influences... and they were also a trio - Rik Emmett (guitar/ vocals / keys), Gil Moore (drums, vocals), and Mike Levine (bass/ keys). Triumph released their first album ('In the beginning') in 1976... followed by 'Rock & roll machine' (1977)... 3rd album 'Just a game' (1979) had their first hit single 'Hold on' as Triumph got a reputation as a potent live band... 'Lay it on the line' was another huge single as the album went gold (half million copies sold) in the US... 4th album 'Progressions of power' (1980) also went gold... 5th album 'Allied forces' sold platinum in the US (1 million copies)... 'Fight the good fight' became a huge single from this record. 6th album 'Never surrender' went gold in the US in 1983... Label issues w/ RCA Records prompted Triumph to sign w/ MCA Records in 1984, but this was when things started to come apart for the band... 'Thunder seven' was their 7th album in 1984, but it struggled to go gold... 'Stages' was a double live album released in 1985. 8th album 'The sport of kings' (1986) scored a commercial hit "Somebody's out there "... but the commercial direction was not well-received... 9th album 'Surveillance' (1987) would mark significant conflicts (creative & business-wise) between guitarist Rik Emmett and the band... Triumph released a best of album 'Classics' in 1989 as Rik Emmett quit the band for a solo career. Triumph recruited guitarist Phil X (who is currently Bon Jovi's guitarist) for the 1992 album 'Edge of excess'... it would be Triumph's 10th and final album... w/ their label folding in 1993 and the album a commercial failure, Triumph disbanded that year. In 2008, Triumph reunited w/ Rik Emmett to perform 2 reunion concerts... one live album was released titled 'Live at Sweden rock festival'... but Triumph have declined to do anything more. In 2021, a documentary film "Triumph: Rock & roll machine" was released, showcasing the career of Triumph.

The ringing extended chorus vocals is insane - jumps from F# to D5 ("will it ever..."), then even extends from D5 to E5 ("agaaain, you know that I..." almost over a whole measure or so. Insane stuff. If you listen to "Play with the Fire" you can easily hear power metal stuff going on.

Triumph was my absolute favorite band growing up. Thus particular record really hit Hine for me. Saw them in concert on thus tour. I was a Sophomore in H.S. Rush, of course was also right there too, and actually kept me going through the rest of their career. You should definitely do a full-album deep dive into Triumph's, Allied Forces, Never Surrender, and this album, Thunder 7. As a fan of these 80's rockers, these three albums should hit home for you. On the note of International 3-piece Power Trio's, you should check out this band of Sisters from Monterrey Mexico called THE WARNING!! They are on the cusp of Super Stardom, and will be a band that will carry the flag of Rock and Roll into the future! Absolutely check them out!! Here is playlist of their second record Queen Of The Murder Scene: kzbin.info/aero/PLAOGal7pIOOiz68VDuo9kYjXrk8NHqq83 Here's a playlist of everything released regarding their Brand New album called ERROR: kzbin.info/aero/PLAOGal7pIOOjhw9baavwwGzqlrwAWboqo

I havent checked out 'reaction' vids in quite some time, they were all the rage a while back and I always liked seeing young guys/girls like you listening to the amazing older stuff. I was HUGE Triumph fan when I was younger( i'm 58 now btw haha) and i'll tell you this - you've got a great ear for music . I love the whole band( i'm a drummer also so i dig Gil Moore) but you are spot on- Rik Emmett is out of this world. Not only is he a seriously world class guitar player but his vocals are , yes, ridiculous. He can hit the really high ranges and still be very melodic like no one else... just insane. don't know what other Triumph song you heard before but to get a real taste of Rik, check out this live vid of Triumph live in Halifax, Fight the Good Fight and pay close attention to the vocal at approx 4:50. amazing. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aF7PeJuBp96jmJI

Gil Moore the drummer and Emmett both did lead vocals. Almost half and half earlier on. They both had different types of songs and others blended. They had conflicts. Like Grand Funk had the drummer Don Brewer vs. Mark Farner.

Banger of a song! Another Canadian band to check out is The Tea Party. They are also a trio and have a middle eastern feel to some of their music. I recommend Sister Awake live at Much More Music Toronto Jeff Martin the lead vocalist eerily sounds and looks like Jim Morrison from the Doors. Even his initials are the same. Cheers

Good choice. Tears In The Rain would be a good third choice. It features the other singer. Live at the 1983 US Festival in San Bernardino, California has a number of great songs. All performed in front of 350,000 people on the same day as Ozzy, Van Halen, Judas Priest and Triumph stole the show as a 3 piece band not named Rush. But for over all effect and sound quality Live From Halifax 1987. Take your pick of songs but this concert features special guest Rick Santers of Rainbow who toured with them for a few months and wrote one of the songs they perform. They is a hidden unentional Easter Egg in that song you should have fun discovering. To me it stands out but I had to listen to it a few times.

Resolution 9 is a solo work by Rick Emmett with guest guitarist Alex Leifson of Rush. Then there is Alex Leifsons new band, "Envy of None" with singer Maih Wynn who did the soundtrack to "The Legend of Buster Scruggs" awsume new female singer who owns over 80 string instruments. Oh yeah, she's like 21 bro.
