Well done. I have a 2020 GT [29th bike] and your comments are really accurate and real. Too many reviews are done by starstruck dreamers who keep saying how wonderful the Rocket is. I agree it is a unique bike, looks good and has awesome power but it certainly takes some time to be able to be it's master rather than the reverse. Five minutes in to my ownership I was stuck in traffic and learned about the hot pipes. Burned a big hole in my pants. Up to 5 000kms and now look forward to taking it out on the twisties. The more I ride it the more I like it. I now reckon it'll be a keeper and we are getting on pretty well.

Thanks mate, glad to hear I'm on the right track. After riding it for a couple of weeks, I grew to really like it

Have you been touring or covered any longer distances on it yet? Just curious because it has the look of a muscle bike, and is described as a roadster in some reviews, but the Triumph overview also mentions its effortless touring capability. I currently ride a Suzuki M1800R which has some similar characteristics, and handles well for its size, although I suspect the Rocket 3GT handles better.

Very nice. I feel you about the heat. But 2.5L of engine packed on a 66" wheelbase. The heat shields seem to work for that matter. What I do is wrap a standard ACE bandage around my right calf outside of a knee-high BILT Moto Sock. It acts as a heat shield but attached to my body. I've also tried small soccer shin guards or shin pads that fit perfectly covering the right-side of your calf also lessening the heat coming off the engine. Just some thoughts to help mitigate the 2.5L combustion turbine furnace between our two sticks.

I’ve got to hand it to you, test riding an unfamiliar big beast of a bike in heavy rain 👍My Suzuki M1800R never sees the rain if I can help it (no traction control or ABS!)

BackWheel, seems like the tires hold their grip well in the rain. Two questions for you sir....First, if you had your choice between the Rocket 3 and the Hayabusa which one would you choose as your everyday rider? Second question is, when you were riding in the wet, as you did, did you ever get any 'back splashing', from the water onto the back of your helmet and jacket?

2 very different bikes, the busa is probably more versatile though with the wind protection. I didn't notice any back splash (my whole body was wet though!)

Is the weather always like this in Sydney? I'll be there soon and I'm afraid I can't ride a motorcycle because of the rain :D

The second most ultimate expression of male masculinity -- TRGT. This bike is "big and awkward" if you're a rookie both small and weak. Just stating the obvious. Where these folks get ahold of these premium motorcycles, abuse them on YT mucking around like fools with such little respect for the engineering. Never ceases to amaze me.

So what's the ultimate expression of male masculinity?

@@onthebackwheel LOL! My friend, if you're married, my no.1 ride is always my lovely wife, in more ways than one. 🥰 Plus, she's been supportive of my motorcycle addiction for 21 years now. 45 years riding, started seriously with a used 82 Yamaha XJ650RJ Seca 650 (got me through college for 6 years). Fast forward ... '15 Gixxer GSXR1000, then '17 Yamaha FZ-10 ... today '22 Triumph Rocket 3 GT with modified removeable backrest. All bikes are in other hands and the Rhino's staring at me from my garage. Ride safe.
