Agree the front is worth having. On my Africa twin fully loaded I did a 5,000km trip with 4,000km on sealed road, 1,000km mud, gravel, sharp rocks and it was half worn out. Pretty quiet on sealed road too. I had a Motoz GPS on the rear so no wear issues with that.

Agree. I have found the front very good on the Africa Twin. Anakee Wild on the front and RallZ on the rear is my go to combination now.

That sounds like a good combo

Great points. Having to control your right hand to preserve a tyre just spoils the trip for me 🍻
@SomeRandoInternetPosterАй бұрын
Got just under 10k out the front, it is done though. Rear I got 4,000. Found they handle really well as an adventure bike tyre, on the road, in the wet, lots of confidence. Off road good apart from mud. I found the rear gave really good feel, and that’s it issue, to easy to controlled power slide out of corners for fun and that eats the rear. I’m a slow rider so can see how you only got 1k if like to open the throttle/slide the rear. Rear isn’t a long distance tyre but if you want a nice handling rear, fun on road and off, and can deal with 4k max if not to heavy on the throttle it’s still one of my favourites
@rogermac117Ай бұрын
I had Wild's on my Africa Twin but the rear wasn't lasting and I found it very noisy on the road. Changed the rear to the Anakee Adventure and kept the Wild on the front, very happy so far.
@_hold_the_line_Ай бұрын
The rear gives unbelievable traction on very steep rocky hill climbs. It's noticeably comfortable off road. Downhill braking and gravel roads it is just average, maybe because it's quite a skinny tyre with a round profile. On road it's quiet and great in the twisties. It's supposedly good in the wet and has a M+S rating. Currently on my WR250R.

Thanks Curtis, recently got my self Motoz adventure rear and dualventure front, couldnt be more happy with how they perform off road , but man that dualventure front is so wobly after 125km/h on asphalt I was planning to swap it at some point with the anakee wild front but meh after your review i think i wont. Do you have a recomendation for a front tyre like dualventure(durability,traction etc) but no wobbles at higher speeds ?
@onthebackwheelАй бұрын
I'd honestly consider the Anakee front if you don't push really hard off-road. The rear is where my concerns are. Are you running the tube or TL front? I find the tube front does lose balance as it wears. The Pirelli rally (non race, that does love higher tar speeds either) is a solid tyre
@vasilistzinis8261Ай бұрын
@onthebackwheel the bike is a Tuareg so tubeless tire, my riding is not THAT hard, but im aggressive when the terrain allows so, regarding the front the low deapth is that worries me but still ,experienced ppl told me that front anakee is gonna be just fine as u said, dunno about pirelli though,gonna check again your review on them
@onthebackwheelАй бұрын
@vasilistzinis8261 it's fantastic, though I used the race which needs a tube. If you want to go aggressive Mitas might be the way so you don't need to have a tube

Don't write the Anakee Wild off as a front tyre. I had one and it wore very predictably up to 10K Kms. Went the RallZ front last time round. Good tyre, but man it wore quickly. 5K Kms and done, scalloped really badly and the rear outlasted it by a long shot, which is unusual. Now back to Anakee Wild on the front.

Will be ok to fit the Michelin for the front and Dunlop or Pirelli at the rear??
@Tony-zp8xnАй бұрын
I think it probably depends on the motorcycle. I have them on my CRF300L Rally and they are probably better on a lighter, less powerful bike. I think they're definitely an improvement offroad over the stock tires that come on the CRF300L, but I agree, they're a soft compound. I'd say their road manners are still as good at the stock tires were, while being better offroad. We'll see about longevity.

I get around 5500 km out of a back tyre, double up for the front. Fully loaded BMW1250 GSA. I had 3 or 4 sets with the same result, but one set was unused from 2016 (mounted 2022). That set was toasted in 2000 km, even front. Did you check the dates they were made? Never had a flat, never a problem. Very predictional and safe tyres. I still think that something was wrong with your tyre or you spin around with the back wheel all the time. Remember that this is a radial tyre, made to handle heavy loaded bikes also in higher speeds.

I have been running the Anakee Wilds on the front only of my 1090 Adventure R for a long time. As you said, it is an excellent road tyre that performs quite well offroad. I ride approximately 60/40 offroad/road. I have copped a couple of punctures on the front though that required fitting a tube to get me home. I have been getting excellent life out of the front tyre. My memory fails me as to the kms i get, but it must be around 7000km. I have never been interested in the rear tyre though. Good honest review 👍

That's some pretty solid mileage for a front, I'd be happy with that for how it performs too
@reecebiddiscombe3117Ай бұрын
This has been my experience too. Front is pretty great, back just vanishes. On road they’re brilliant. But off road, they have to be aired down a bit or they’re harsh riding and don’t hook up. I’d come off a set of MotoZ RallZ and after 800km I put the Motoz back on. After 3000km of very hard riding they still had heaps more tread depth than the Anakee. On the plus side, they mount and air up really well and are lovely on the highway but I’d rather have a pure road tyre if sticking to tar. Off road, they’re just not worth it.

I’ve recently put a set of these of my new Himalayan. So far I’m very impressed with their off road performance, especially the front. On the road they are noisy but they grip predictably. In terms of wear, it comes down in large part to the weight of the bike and the enthusiasm of the throttle hand, but the rear already looks more worn th the front after 400 or so kilometres.
@onthebackwheelАй бұрын
I reckon they'll be pretty suited to the Himmy, keen to hear how they hold up. 130 or 140 rear?

I run these on my tenere. They're a top tyre, but you're correct. The back tyre I'm lucky to get 5000km out of, even on my little 700. The fronts good though. Grips a lot better than you'd expect. But, in saying that. 25,000km running these tyres and never had a flat to date (touch wood). I just like spending money I guess
@onthebackwheelАй бұрын
No flats is always good. What are you getting from a front?
@Dashy1988Ай бұрын
@onthebackwheel front varies. First tyre I only got 7000km to the wear marks, but that was predominantly gravel, sharp rocks, adventure riding etc. The 2nd one (mostly used for commuting) and much less adventure I got just shy of 10,000km. I always change them out before I go on a big ride, but I'm roughly doing 2 rears to a front. Again, for a bike like my little tenere I reckon they're great, but that back tyre would be a budget killer bang for buck value
@Qbasz007Ай бұрын
On my Ktm 790 adv R the rear tire in the mud was good for about 3000km after that it became a dry gravel road tire for the next 7000km. Yeah and mine whined like crazy on tarmac. Even with earplugs the noise was unbearable over 90km/h.

You have to run these tyres in. Do a few short runs and heat cycles when new. DON'T just fit them prior to a big ride as they will just wear very fast if you don't follow Michelin's recommendation to run-in.
