Triumph Speedmaster 2022 with TC Bros 8” Mini Apes

A quick view of the TC Bros 8”Narrow Mini Apes I installed on my 2022 Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster. The factory beach bars were a bit low for my liking, and the official Triumph mini apes were too tall. Still able to run the standard cables, just re-routed.

The bars appear in line with the forks. They are taller but the distance between the seat and the stock bars appears almost the same.

Hey ! Looks great and this is exactly what I want to do. Do you have a pic with the mini aps without the wind shield, without the passenger pillion seat ? It will be the style I'll go for IF i get the speedmaster (still considering an aircooled sportster)

Hey man .. using this video as a template for my triumph bobber. Had a question is. My bobber has the weighted bar ends. The new handle bar is just hollow. Any idea how to get them off (and transferred to the new one)

I never moved mine over to the new bars, so I’m not sure how they are removed. I just use closed end grips to cover the holes.

Yeah the bobber comes stick with bar end mirrors with an end cap. Appreciate it!

Great video, looks like it may be a good solution to get me the ride and pullback I’m looking for. TC Bros said these bars are not compatible with the throttle by wire of the new Speedmaster due to the inside diameter. You have any issues at all? Did you need to drill anything to get the controls to stay in place or is it easy to adjust as you rotate the mini apes back and keep fine tuning until you find the right placement? Thanks again!

The only issue I had was that I had to let the throttle/master cylinder combo hang off the edge of the bar a little bit. Otherwise it was binding due to the bend on the bar. Yes, I drilled the throttle side as there is a pin on the controls that locates it.

Also, please pardon my ignorance, but is there anything that goes on the inside of the handlebar? TC bros said the inner diameter wasn’t large enough for the throttle by wire, but obviously it worked for you.

It'll look cleaner if you tie the electronics cables to the brake cable, but otherwise looks great.

I've been looking to see if a setup like this would be possible, thank you for posting this! I've got a question though, would this setup fit on a triumph street scrambler? How about the 1200 scramblers?

Good question. I honestly don't know. I figure manufacturers probably share a lot of similar features across models, so if the bars are also 1" diameter they would probably fit. I'd be more concerned about the amount of wiring they provide. This one luckily had lots of play that I was able to re-route stuff.

Yikes. I have the 14" Triumph bars on order, but do not want them vertical (this explains why Triumph says the bars cannot be mounted with their windscreen). Where exactly are the pins and where are the holes? Can the pins be ground off and the bars still hold position, or do I need the knurling on aftermarket bars do you think?

I am not 100% sure, but I believe the triumph bars come with new risers, and it's the risers that are pinned and the bars have holes. So could possibly re-drill the holes? Or don't use the new risers but then since the bars aren't knurled you risk them rotating.

@@davesdiy9836 Thanks Dave, that gives me some food for thought - and ammo for a chat with my local parts manager! I'm going to mount the Puig CustomAcces Batwing SML, and it will not work with the bars perpendicular (bars should parallel to the forks IMO).

Hi Dave, Just a quick question on the grips... do they slide off? There doesn't appear to be a cap on the end so not sure what's holding it in place? Also are they compatible with bar end mirrors? Thanks in advance!

They need some sort of adhesive, I'm sure there is some type of real product but I use hairspray. These are not open-end, so if you wanted to use them with bar end mirrors you would have to cut the end off.

@@thepodbaydoorshal It handles great with these. More comfortable on the wrists/arms than the beach bars. But I did just recently swap them for 12" apes from the same company.

@@davesdiy9836 Thanks for all your answers... one more query please... when you reconnected your brake line to the master cylinder did you have to do anything else? I'm coming from cars and you simply don't touch brakes on those unless you know what's what... is this fairly straightforward? Also how hard was it to reroute the clutch cable? I really like the look of the 8 inch mini apes, and it's the only non-standard mod I would want to do to my bike!

@@thepodbaydoorshal Bleeding the brakes is very similar to bleeding brakes on a car. I found a couple videos here on youtube to help me. It's pretty easy. The clutch cable wasn't bad, just disconnecting it can be a tiny it of a fuss because it doesn't have a ton of play. If you watch my video on the 12" bars I show a little more detail on how to get the cable apart.
