It so did. But as her first big bike, she would have used 15% of it. It didn't seem like the reasonable choice to make. The CB650 R is a good middle ground

Interesting you said the Hornet was too wide yet you bought a CB650r 🤷🏼‍♂️

The CB650Rvwas a wild card and we didn't expect, on paper, for it to be the winner. You're right, it's a wider bike than the Hornet. The Hornet also offers a lower sitting position, which for Vic isn't great as the is a rather tall rider. Ultimately, what won her over is the more linear and less aggressive personality of the inline 4. As her first big bike, she felt the Hornet was too snappy for her.

I had the same problem deciding between the street triple r and the cb650r but in the end I went for the triumph pick mine up 1st march 😊

She absolutely adored the Street Triple R and the RS (so did I !!). But they were too much for a first big bike. Plus the extra insurance cost. But the guys at Triumph were awesome, and they will see us again

Wonder why the trident 660 wasn’t in the mix which is more comparable to the CB650R. Both great bikes though.

It was nearly 20% lower on power, and Vic saw herself reaching the limit of this bike very quickly. It's is also a tiny bike, which for a rider over 5'9 can become quite uncomfortable pretty quickly. Still a good bike, you're right. This is why we considered it

Interesting. I am 5'9 and just got a used Trident 660. Felt instantly comfortable on it. But then I also have a Mini as a car so seem to like small "British" 3 cylinders ;-)

Obnoxious music, much too laud and quite speech sections forcing me to constantly meddling with a volume level didn't help. I was looking for some passenger impressions from these bike but no such luck.
