Good review mate....just one thing the reason the quickshifter wasn't so smooth Is because you were coming of the throttle every time you shifted up....keep the acceleration on then Its like butter . I just bought a 2016 STRX two days ago In black....Im still smiling , this bikes a keeper .

Yes, I soon realised that afterwards. Next time I have a go on one, I will use it properly haha.

Softening the suspension a couple of clicks really helps with the bumps. Weirdly, removing the standard flyscreen on my Striple R has made it less noisy in my helmet... and it looks better too!

I saw a Street Triple 'R' today in town. Remus exhausts.Phwoooaaarrrr. The sound. The pace ! If I could have any bike, and bear in mind bikes are restricted to 100 horses here - I think it would be a Striple.
@Phil480

So first they take your Shreddies, now you're telling me they restrict the power!? Does that apply to cars as wel?l haha.
@bloodyhell451

Nope. They may change the law soon - No restrictions in exchange for adopting the MOT for bikes (which don't need one at the moment). We shall see.....

Nice review, man....i now realise that quite a few of the reviews i've watched have been by you, Doh! :) I think i prefer the look of the regular Stripple, but i most certainly wouldn't say no to one of these....would have to get that 60mph restrictor kit removed sharpish tho ;) Nicely done, mate!

Lovely bike. The ABS light is a standard thing, ABS doesn't kick in on most bikes until you pull off and do 3 wheel revolutions and it'll flash until then.

I did notice after filming this that the same thing was happening on other peoples Triumphs. Thought it must be some sort of standard thing.

Dont back off the throttle with a quickshifter. Just keep it pinned. Smooth as anything then.

Nice one Phil, love the editing on the speedo, very good idea, beautiful looking bike buddy I quite like the looks of those mirrors although I can see what you mean about catching your hands on em, RSM8.

What editing?? lol The mirrors do give a good view and they are nice and easy to fold away for tight filtering, but I did clip them with my hand several times when going to open my visor or something. I am free tomorrow evening so I can join in on the hangout panel if you want me on there?

Great review! - I got the Puig screen for a recent 2000 mile tour on my STR, it helps on the motorways but adds much more noise. As you noticed, with no fairing at all there's not turbulence thus quiet. Interesting to see you change up that early (perhaps due to the fun of using the quickshifter - I don't have it) - generally I'm only in 5th/6th gear on the motorway for cruising...

The only thing that puts me off the 2013 onwards version is the taller first gear.. Ideal for around town but makes it less wheelie prone which is what they are about ;)

Hi there! I have the Street Triple 2011 R yes it's really hard on the suspension you feel every bump but I guess it can be set up just right for every individual the one you're riding is much newer, but Triumph are improving their bikes all the time to keep up with the times you have to be changing your bike quite a lot.nice Video, thanks Bro
@Phil480
@Phil480 8 жыл бұрын
Thanks Paul. I think it's more to do with me being used to the soft cushioned seat and suspension on my GPZ. Most other bikes I've tried do feel firmer.

It has a quickshifter so you don't need to release the throttle like you're doing and you might want to explore nearer the redline to really unleash this bike

The Speed Triple is definitely more comfortable than the Street, but if you struggle with the height of the street then you definitely struggle with the speed. Seems to be a problem with the speedo on that one, looks like it sticks at 60Mph ;)

+Gazzatron That was the cruise control :p I would like to try a Speed, but they are taller.
@TheGazzatron941
@TheGazzatron941 9 жыл бұрын
Only slightly taller but its more the width of the seat/bike which makes it feel that much taller i think. Pretty sure you'd be able to get a lower seat and lower the suspension a bit to suit though.

It's interesting how some things are relative. I'm not a tall bloke and I get two feet flat on the ground. Maybe your preload was maxed? I agree about the stock mirrors, I added bar end ones on mine. I think the wind noise was bad compared to the naked Street Triple and the CB1000R I had before. I will be removing the flyscreen because of this. I also found the seat very comfortable, and I'm a bit of a lard arse. The stand is tricky. The most surprising thing about the bike was the way it pulls from idle despite being just a 675. Very impressive.
@Phil480
@Phil480 8 жыл бұрын
+Hass Chapman It could have been maxed out, not sure what the dealer had it set to. I am only 5'3 though. As for the seat, it's probably just something to get used to, I'm just used to my GPZ which is like an arm chair in comparison.
@HassChapman
@HassChapman 8 жыл бұрын
+Phil480 I'm 5'9 so that's a bit of a difference. :P I think you're right with the seat. I've been riding sports bikes for years now and prefer the seat to the one on the Rx over the one on the normal Street Triple.

On my bike the ABS light stays on until you reach 5mph until it proves itself. I notice you close the throttle when shifting up; I thought you could leave the throttle open and let the electronics shut-off the spark when upshifting ? It might be why you thought the quickshifter a bit jerky?
@Phil480
@Phil480 9 жыл бұрын
Yes, I was using the quick shifter wrong hahah. Force of habit letting the revs off. And yes, the abs light flashing is a standard triumph thing.
@ShaneWeaver
@ShaneWeaver 9 жыл бұрын
+Phil480 the ABS works by detecting the relative speed of the wheels. So light keeps flashing until it knows the sensor is working i.e. the wheels are moving :)

Great review! Which bike did you enjoy more for a fun weekend bike, the speedmaster or street triple. I have a Vulcan 500 now and am debating if I should get something more sporty or another cruiser. Thanks!

+Dyno Cart Tough call for a weekend fun bike. They're both great fun. I think I'd have to go for the Street Triple, but it really is a close call between them for me.

+Phil480 Thanks! For someone who is a new rider do you think the street triple is to powerful?
@Phil480
@Phil480 9 жыл бұрын
+Dyno Cart Good question.Really, it depends on the rider and their attitude and experience. It may be a bit much for the more inexperienced and foolish new riders, but a sensible rider would probably be okay. If a new rider who has just passed their full test asked me what they should get out of this or something like an R1, I would say go for the Street Triple.

Would you still recommend this beauty for a beginner's bike? I mean i need an easy and linear-powerdelivery bike with low weight and reliable motor... The 2 cylinder new trend on bikes is good on MPG but the power delivery is BRUTAL just for a short period though ( 2-3 seconds) .. like the SV 650 or the MT-07 let's say... It kinda scared me when i went full throttle... :/ Take care man ;) CHEERS
@Phil480
@Phil480 8 жыл бұрын
It's a tough one, the Street Triple does give a nice consistent delivery of power (from what I remember), it is quite a best and may be too much for some beginners. Going full throttle on this is probably more scary than the SV650, for me at least. Usually, I hear people recommending things like the Bandit or Hornet 600 as a first big bike. I've never tried one, but I guess being inline 4 they give a nice consistent delivery. Plus they are good reliable machines. My recommendation to any new rider would be to get something older and not so expensive first to help build up some experience and confidence and then go for something like this. Your choice at the end of the day though :)

If that is still a disabled bay, then somebody needs to repaint the lines so that it is clearly marked. Usually that area is full of bikes from the shop.
