I have enjoyed your video productions about the Street Twin and they were influential in helping me decide to purchase mine, a 66 plate jet black which I absolutely love. So thanks for sharing these.

Such a cool looking bike. Really stunning actually!
@whorayful8 жыл бұрын
They look so much nicer without the front fork reflectors, liking this model a lot it has such a purposeful no BS look about it. Get the job done and have fun doing it. Your blacked out parts fit the mood perfectly, I'd be surprised if Triumph don't offer them as factory/dealer options as sales build. Ray

Thanks Ray, it's nice to be able to do little bits as I go along so the bike isn't off the road

Hello, good review again, i havent taken the plunge yet but still tempted, so if i understand this correctly, the LED indicators are a straight swap over, ie, just fitting required , no fiddling with relays etc, and the yellow headlight , is it the same power as the stock one ?
@mancavemoto8 жыл бұрын
Yep, led indicators are a straight swap, with inbuilt relays. The yellow headlight is just a tinted film that I added to the stock unit

Where did you get the smaller license plate holder? I love the videos, but if you could tell us where you are getting the upgrades that would be even better. Thanks

Hi, that's just a standard license plate holder....

Nice touches and good work on the vids! I'm planning on fitting the LED indicators to my 11 plate Bonnie and have ordered the street twin mounts that slide on the same 41mm forks. Am I right in thinking they also have an allen head pinch bolt? If so I forgot to get 2 of them. Are you able to measure them for me? Many Thanks
@mancavemoto8 жыл бұрын
+Cotti There sure is Cotti, The total length of the bolt is 20mm, with 15mm of that being the threaded section. Its a 5mm hex head. Have fun!

Nice bike. But I don't like the white stripe. Looking at the video, it looks like it's a stick-on graphic as it looks like it has a clear border around it. Do you think a hair dryer would unstick it? Or is it painted on? Also, how do you find the brakes? Thanks for the review.
@mancavemoto7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Scotty, I don't like the white stripe either. It's a decal, but unfortunately it's also clear coated over the top! Brakes are fine if you bear in mind it's a single disc. I've never had any dramas

Love the ST and love mine. But I was looking through you videos for a handle bar change. I'm wondering if the Street Cup bar would work on the Street Twin. My guess is they would, but what about the wires? My hope is that the wire lengths wouldn't have to change, meaning I could re-install the ST bars when/if the mood fits. Any thoughts on all this?? Thanks in advance for the feedback. And keep up the great "ManCave" videos!
@mancavemoto7 жыл бұрын
Hi David, and thanks. As far as I know a swap to the ‘clubman’ bars is straightforward with all the cabling staying completely stock

Love your straightforward review. Beautiful bike. Love the fact the T120 has 6 Speed trans and rider modes, but I just like the look of the Street Twin better. Really torn. Will be traveling 2 up. My bro's old T140 (1979) was great 2 up and was only 750 cc. Cheers from Canada.
@mancavemoto8 жыл бұрын
Hey Rob, Thanks for your comment. Yes a tough choice, I'd plump for a Thruxton over a T120 just to tear you more lol. You don't miss the 6th gear on the Street Tein though
@robofthewest8 жыл бұрын
Good to know (6th gear).

Tony, I noticed in your original Street Twin review you had mentioned the injector covers, in your opinion, should have been black. Is this something you plan to do to your bike? Also, what paint do you use and what kind of prepping is needed if any? Cheers!
@mancavemoto8 жыл бұрын
Hi Elliott, thanks for the comment. I may paint the covers, not sure yet though...the paint is just standard cellulose aerosol cans. You can get a nice finish if you put the prep work in. As I was painting new parts, they already have a nice finish so just needed flatting off with fine grade sandpaper, a couple of coats of primer then carefully build up the top coats...

VftMC: Thanks for the review. Informative. I've sat on and heard one at my sort-of local dealer in Wisconsin USA, and I'm taken. I'd also considered a Moto Guzzi V7ii Stone, as I have an MG dealer 5 minutes from me and also like the MG style and tradition. I notice you sold one when you bought the Street Twin. How's about a quick comparison of the 2 bikes?
@mancavemoto8 жыл бұрын
+Kyle Henderson Thanks Kyle, sounds like you are spoilt for choice. My V7 wasnt a ii but i can give you my thoughts..... I did love the Guzzi, like you i liked the heritage, it was also a bit different and i didnt see many around, so that appealed. Once i changed the exhaust it also sounded awesome. Much better than the Bonneville Street Twin actually. They ride fairly similar, the Guzzi had a taller standover height, but the footpegs were quite high so i felt a little more 'bunched up', however i understand they have amended this on the V7ii by dropping the pegs lower and slightly changing the angle of the engine in the frame. The Guzzi has a nice torquey engine, not as much power as the Bonnie, and it doesnt deliver it as smoothly, but around town its great fun. It just takes a little longer to wind up. Both bikes have a single front disc, but the triumphs has more feel and modulation. The triumph also has a much slicker gear box than the V7, and once you start pushing the Guzzi on faster roads, it always felt like it needed an extra gear. Again i understand this has been addressed as the V7ii has a six speed gearbox. It also now has ABS, so i expect the braking is improved too. It all comes down to personal choice i guess. One of the factors behind my switch (other than just wanting a change) was support. Guzzi dealers are few and far between in the UK. In fact there isnt a dealer in my county, and all of them are well over an hours ride away. Triumph is just better supported. Plus it was a chance for me to buy British.... If you have a Guzzi dealer only 5 mins away, then i guess it will be contributing factor. The Guzzi (mk1 at least) felt more 'agricultural' than the Triumph, but it does have great character, and fitted with the right pipes makes a sound to die for. Plus the shaft drive means you don't have all the up keep associated with a chain. Having said that, don't be in a hurry with the V7 if you want to take the back wheel off for any reason! Hope that helps? Ride both and see what you think.....i'd be interested to hear your views

Thanks for this. I am also considering the MG V7III. Everyone says the III is noticeably better than the II and certainly the I. I haven't ridden it yet but I'm hoping that will make my mind up for me. I have ridden the Street Twin and liked it a lot.

Hi Tony- Toni here. Ive got the 2017 street Twin. The brakes are atrocious I find. ive stripped them down and had a good old clean, which has improved them slightly but im finding the responsiveness isnt that great, and they squeak somewhat if i apply a bit more pressure. Any ideas on a good upgrade for these? thanks toni
@mancavemoto5 жыл бұрын
Some have fitted sintered pads and seem happy with the improvement in bite. I never personally had any issue with the brakes. Not the sharpest admittedly, but they do the job when required

Nice bike and upgrades! How exactly did you black out the bevels on the light and speedo? Did you do it yourself? Also, did you remove the reflectors on the front forks yourself?
@mancavemoto8 жыл бұрын
+bob hope Hi Bob, yes i did those my myself. Its pretty easy to take the headlight out and dismantle the component parts. I then just flatted it, primed and painted. Same with the speedo. Maybe i'll post a 'how to' video? The reflectors are only stuck on, so i just ran a piece of fishing line down behind it, then cleaned off the adhesive residue with some solvent. (clutch & Brake cleaner)

+Views from the Man Cave I would a how-to video on the paint job. I just ordered a matte black Street Twin and the silver parts is the only thing I don't like. So definitely want mine black too. Also the silver thing that holds the headlight would be nice in black. Good job with the videos :-)

+Thomas Vedel Larsen Thanks Thomas, the speedo/headlight mount is the next thing to do. I've been told you need to remove the top yoke to take it out. However more recently a different technique has been suggested. I'll try it out and post a video

What's the top speed and 0-100 figures?
@mancavemoto8 жыл бұрын
I don't think those stats have been published. It's a low end torquey bike, so I can't imagine the top speed would be any more than 110-120mph at best. (And I wouldn't fancy that on a naked bike). As for 0-100, no idea, but it's not the sort of bike for those type of comparison
