I,ve got the 2019 version of this bike reviewed here. Firstly those two blokes are above average height 6ft2 for the son I think the dad is 6ft3,anyway, I,m a much more average 5ft9. And this bike is spot on for me. This bike is now 18mnths old, with 3000mls on it. The first 700mls were frustrating, what with the engine needing to be run in. Since then, we'll its grunty thrash able and holds the road brilliantly. Although when these pirelli phantoms wear out, I,ll get Avon or Bridgestone tyres, because the phantoms feel iffy in the wet. And I live in England. Its attractive and well made. I,m 57 I,ve had lots of bikes, but will keep this one🙂ride safe.

Seems a little "rough" at idling, but could be just because of the new engine. What characteristics did you notice about the bike AFTER the break in period? I'm 62 years old, and traded up from my 2019 Honda Rebel. What a difference! I'm hoping this will be my last bike ever! Thanks for your input. 👍🏍

@@jimsaddler942 So I'm not sure if this will apply to you but the earlier FI 900's ran lean from the factory and a ecu tune makes a huge difference in performance and overall feel of the engine. My 2010 bonneville FI felt exactly the same in lower rpms as you're describing and just didn't feel right especially for a 900cc but getting an exhaust and a proper tune made it run much smoother and faster. I'd highly suggest to at least getting a tune, it makes a substantial difference. Do some research on forums and you'll find tutorials, it's been a while since I've done it but I think it only cost like $5 plus the obd2 cable but I could be wrong. There are a few other small super low cost mods you can do along with the tune to open it up a little more and make it smoother. But please do all your research and also make sure that your warranty won't be voided if you still have it.

I've had one from new for just over 3 yrs, it's the first bike I've ever kept this long & I have no reason to part with it. I'm 5'8" a perfect fit for me very comfortable & economical. After 54yrs of riding, this is my perfect bike. Funny thing is my very first bike was a 1959 Bonniville.

i love mine! all you need is a bench seat if you're taller. sportier to ride than the t100 and the simplistic nature is so perfect

I'm 6' 200lbs, I tried out a Triumph Street Twin and found that scooped out seat quite uncomfortable and cramped. Then I tried the T100 and that seat and foot peg position was much better for my size. Needless to say, I took the T100 home and never looked back. It's been a great bike. I did a quick review on it a while back if anyone's interested. You have a great channel with interesting reviews, keep it up.

Hi ! I have a T120 2019 Bonneville Triumph. Have heard about the gearbox issues. But for me I haven’t heard anyone personally. 2019 above l believe are no issues. I am 5’9” and yes the height and seating position is ideal for me. Changed trees to Metzeler Premium road tec01. Difference is night and day And adjusted foot brake up slightly. Mirror vision at back back may as well have been zero, so now I have bar end mirrors. Anyway I am very happy with the bike. Auckland. NZ

Triumph are above BMW and Ducati in the warranty claims table. I've had more issues with BMW than any other make of bike I've owned although their customer service is good.

Subscribed ! I like the content in your reviews, and the way you demonstrate each topic , and include the specific details as well as exhaust sounds going through the gears and downshifting etc.. I have a Gold Line edition reserved, waiting for delivery in June . I’m stoked , as a novice rider I think I made the right choice . I’m 5’9” with a 31” inseam , this bike is ideal for me . Although even at my height , the first thing I will do is change the seat for the straight bench type , adding another inch and a half of height and a much more desired classic look to the bike . Prefer your reviews to the press day wet lunches. Nice looking bike, better than the RE and worth the extra money but as with most bikes it looks small under you. Maybe a test on Allen Millyards V10 Viper would be a better fit.

I got my 2017 model street twin fall 2016 .. it is such a great bike .. got the model 20 seat on it because triumph did a needed "firming up" to make it more comfortable for longer rides .. cool thing about these twins is that parts seems to simply just fit .. going to get the 21 side panels for my twin now :)

As a veritable giant of 5' 8", l once slung a leg over a mate's R1200GS and tried to get it off the side stand. And then tried again, and again. Then gave up and went back to my FJ1200. There's a bike for almost everyone but I'd feel better on something more like the Street Twin. I've seen riders of my height on tall bikes so maybe it's a combination of what you want and what you feel comfortable with.

I went to a local BMW dealer and sat on an R 1200 R and couldn’t believe how small the bike was compared to the videos that I was watching.

I (the Ol’ Man) didn’t have any issues with the feet levers and I’m size 12, although Darcy did. I think at 6ft you’d be fine. It’s not a big bike, but what is! Pretty much every bike is made for the average height person of 5’10”. If you can get to sit on one you’ll know for sure.

I have a street twin and I am barely 5'4" and the bike fits me perfect. I think a taller person wold have much more knee bend and I do think taller people look a bit funny on this bike. If I were you, even though I love this bike, I would try one of the newer 1200 scrambler bikes available which I would love to have, but they are too tall for me. Also consider the T-120 which is a bit bigger and might fit you better with all the same features as the street twin.

Honestly, I sat on a Street Twin today, and fell in love with it. I'm 6'2 w/ a 32" inseam. Felt comfy for the legs, riding position felt nice. Definitely one of the FEW bikes I've sat on that I enjoyed. Edit: The Street Twin, Speed Twin, and Scrambler were all great for me!

I have a 32.5" inseam. However, I am only 5'9. All legs, I know! My problem is the reach to the handlebars with most bikes. But I understand bikes are designed for the body type matching the majority of the target market, so not complaining.

I had one of the first models and loved it. It did run out of puff fairly soon, but the grunt was brilliant. Looking back I feel it was a little low for me - I’m about 5’ 11. The Speed Twin was a much better (sportier) position for me. Great video, well done guys.

In this case, me, personally, i would prefer the Enfield Interceptor tbh. Similar style, but approx 3000 € cheaper than the street twin (in Germany)

Install the TEC front fork emulator with the fork adjuster and add in a bench seat and you pretty much turn the Street Twin into a T100, it will make the bike taller and raise the seat height, and for extra measure add lowered footpegs and the bike will pretty much be a "big" bike (not big enough for the Ol' man obviously but then again I don't think any bike besides a Honda Goldwing would be size appropriate lol)

Nice video overall. One comment however that applies to someone like myself how might be in the market for a beginner bike. What I hear seems to tick most of the boxes, but there is one niggle. Excellent review, I learned a lot from this. Very interesting that you included your perspective regarding size/height of rider. I guess they are targeting the most common rider height, as that would translate to more sales, but it's great that you included your comments based on the fact that you're over 6 feet all. I haven't seen that level of detail in any other reviews of the Speed Twin, so I like that. I'm 5' 9'', so it appears as though this would be perfect for my size. Love your reviews. I'm 176cm (google says: 5ft8) and I have a StreetTwin of the first generation (2016) and it is realy on the edge. Next time, I would buy a higher motorcycle. If I do not take care that I drive completely relaxed, I get muscle cramps in the hip very quickly and have to stop and relieve them again. After I swapped the original bench for the straight bench, it got a little better. What I mean by that: with 5ft9 you should better look out for a higher machine like the SpeedTwin or at least give it a thorough test drive.

Great review, I love my Street Twin. All of your comments about height are correct, I am not 6ft tall & I think it is perfect size for me, I know the test rider for this bike did 40,000 miles 2-up and it was possible but as you said probably less ideal. I love the exhausts too, still can't believe it came out the factory sounding that good

Fantastic review! Best channel out there! I tested a used one of these and found it odd that I really had to muscle it around corners... Decided it wasn't for me, which was a shame as I loved everything else. But after your clear demonstration, I reckon the one I tested probably had squared off tyres. I should have checked at the time, but as it was a main dealer I trusted they'd have sorted that.... Clearly not! Off out to test another this week! Thanks!

The 18= front wheel makes it slower steering if you are used to 17s. A bit of counter steering adjustment through the bars soon sort it though.

I’m 5.5 , short legs, riding mainly in the city. 80% of the bikes are too high for me (need to be able to stop in emergency at any moment, including while cornering! ) The Street Twin might be an option to replace my old f650gs , one day... Thanks for the review. Thanks for the metric figures!

I'm currently looking to get back into biking now that I've retired. I was at first tempted by the cheap and cheerful nature of the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 but since then have widened the net to include the Guzzi V7 Special (I know of a dealer that has them at a grand off brand new) and the Triumph Street Twin, which has now been renamed the Speed Twin 900. I included it because it has the same RRP as the Guzzi sans discount, which is a bit more than I would like to spend if I'm honest, but the reputation for build and component quality over the RE and my distrust of Italian products longevity and, in particular, after sales service and spares availability has me wanting to take a closer look. I'm generally very satisfied with what I've seen but one thing that is bugging me is the lack of a separate tacho. The Speed Twin 1200 has separate instrument binnacles for speedo and tacho whereas the Speed Twin 900 has everything in one. I don't want the 1200 because it's too much of a commitment for what I have in mind plus it costs nearly three grand more than the 900, which is already a stretch for me. Leaving aside the huge gulf in price, at the end of the day the two are basically the same model apart from displacement so I don't understand why this odd difference in the clocks. It may sound really silly but I get the feeling that I'd be riding along and every time that I look at the instruments I'd feel short changed. Does anyone else feel similarly or is it just me?

Great review. Currently looking at Speed Twin 900 or 1200. I am in early stage of decision making and there are alternatives though. In any case, your review is quite eye opening. The 900 is a great bike and now I believbe it is simply targeted towards a broader audience, including women, which might explain the height range. I am 1,86m and that probably means for additional comfort, I need to go with the 1200.

Hello gentlemen, have enjoyed watching your vids! My one comment is concerning the Harley kickstand. They are designed to lock in place once weight is put on them. They may shift back and forth but they are not suppose to fold till weight is removed. May take some time to get use to them and trust them. Ride safe!

triumphs are made in thailand - hence 5foot 8 design ,, both of you do not look that much out of place sitting on the bike ,- as you say these bikes are quick steering - which explains high foot pegs so as not to ground when you flick side to side as you where doing ,, overall product seems good - with ample power and that all important usability , also the goldy bronze colour of exhaust coming from the head looks rich.

I recommend that you do some research on small dual sport market. There are several choices in 300 to 400cc range and $5000 to $6000 price. These bikes generally have high seats which should be fine for someone of your size. Suzuki DR650 is also worth considering. With these bikes you can ride on and off road and a great tools for becoming an excellent rider.

I had to put forward foot pegs on the similar framed bike i started fixing up, knees just cramp up being bent so far. raised the rear end by 4 inches, still going to have to raise the seat height a bit to get it right for 6 foot 0.
