why did the valve kiss the piston???

Camshaft has a flange on it normally- this can't ever happen as long as the nut is tightened properly. I suspect damaged thread and cam pinion is not seated. Very curious????

Service manuals typically (and correctly) state that the cam bushings have a very long service life. Problem is, a lot of classic bikes have now had that very long service life.
