Triumph Tiger 1200 - How to Replace Coolant

In this video, I replace the coolant in my 2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 XRx motorcycle. Make sure to use HOAT coolant.

I had some air still in the system no matter how hard I tried to purge, laying over on its side etc. Makes a gurgle sound when cooling but the temperature works fine. One of the hardest to solve on the servicing side. Good job all the same

Yup. Same for me. A tiny bit of air in there. But bikes runs perfectly fine :)

My 2021 Tiger 850 came with Triumph HD4X HOAT coolant and that's the coolant specified in the manual. Literature elsewhere on the net says it's a rebranded Finol HD4X coolant that is phosphate and amine-free but contains silicates, borates and nitrites (unlike the usual NAP-free chemistries in most HOAT & OAT coolants). Lately however I found out that Triumph is discontinuing the use of the HD4X, switching to the Triumph D2035 which is an OAT type coolant. And they cannot mix, requiring the entire cooling system to be completely flushed with distilled water to get rid of every last trace of the HD4X before refilling with the D2035. I wonder why they made this decision to switch...

Hello! I enjoy watching your Triumph videos. I myself ride the Tiger 1200 XCA, so it's almost the same motorcycle. I want to do more maintenance on my bike like you do. However, I'm having trouble finding the service manual. Where did you get yours?

Triumph charges a small monthly subscription fee to access the service manuals online here: triumphtechnicalinformation.com/ What I did was pay for 1 month and download the manual page by page and saved it as a pdf on my computer. It’s a long, tedious process but you can cancel the subscription after 1 month. 🤫😁

Hi Bro, I am using Tiger 1200, 2012 model. I plan to use a new coolant Iced Cool by RockOil. Is it a good coolant? Based on my reading, its perform well.
