Hi I tried this bike several weeks ago, discovering Triumph at the same time. What a bike ! Lot of fun and beautiful. I'm really surprised you said you rode it all day?!? After less than an hour on it, I was really bothered by the vibrations (saddle and handlebars) and the noise level (exhausting). Otherwise, there would already be this bike in my garage!

I narrowed down my choices to this bike and a Monster 797. I signed the papers for the Triumph and have to wait a week for its arrival at the dealership. Reliabilty and cost of ownership were my biggest factors because both bikes are fun rides. On a track the Duc will most likely outperform this one but my gut says I'll be more satisfied with the 660 5years from now as a commuter.

Those fist few seconds look weird. Almost like you cut out the shape of the bike and pasted in on some road footage. Is that because of the floaty camera thing you're using?

It’s the stabilisation I think. If the 360 camera is on a long pole and the road is bumpy it’ll hold the horizon still but excessive movement in the pole gets magnified.

The closest serious competitor must be the CB650R, which I think looks better and may possibly be slightly less prone to things breaking, fogging up etc. Which did you prefer? And is the Honda's suspension more compliant? Or do I have to spend much more money? 🤢 Thanks, Tony.

Thanks Stephen I try. I really liked the Honda. I think I might prefer the styling of the Triumph (I’m just pleased they didn’t use a big logo on the tank 😉) and the engine feels a little more punchy (but not quicker). Having said that I think the Honda rides better and the four pot motor is smoother. It’s a tough call for sure. I’d need to ride them back to back before I’d fall on one side of or the other.

Great review, informative and rational, It I were in the market for a new/another bike I would take a serious look at this new offering from Triumph.. The one part of the design I do not like is that god awful number plate holder/system....(Not just a Triumph design feature)....Unlike the old idea of a 'compliant' licence plate system that could be overcome with a aftermarket 'tail tidy' this looks as if its there to stay...I my opinion it spoils otherwise nice design. By the way my ...as featured by you a while ago...the anti-vibration Quadlock system is still working beautifully..... Greetings from España

Nice review. Im sitting here thinking of that A2 kit and the licensing requirement (Yea I know about the S in Licence but that is how we spell it here in the USA😀) just fyi here is California we have M1 and M2, M1 you can ride anything M2 is for motorized Bicycles and the like and don't go over 30mph. Cheers
@mancavemoto3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Donald. A2 is a licence category where the power of the bike is limited to 47hp and you have to be at least 19 years of age. To be able to ride anything more powerful you need to be 24 or older, and take a further test. The idea is to stop 16 or 17 year olds passingtheir test then going oot and buying a stupidly powerful bike.
@bikecommuter243 жыл бұрын
@@mancavemoto I was reading that, personally I think the tiered system is a good thing, here you take a written test and ride on a permit fo six months take the riding test and if you pass you can buy and ride any size motorcycle regardless of experience or skill level. I lived in the UK for awhile and they accepted my M1 endorsement, I rode a 400cc single Yamaha 😀got me where I needed to go and the insurance was cheap compared to the what I wanted a sport bike. On the Trident I image a set of fork springs and a new shock would probably fix things up.
