Great video. I called the local Triumph dealer for service on my Trident. The first available appointment was 2 months out and at a cost of ~$300. I performed the service myself, purchased the OBD Link LX, and used the TuneECU app to reset the service interval. Resetting the service interval was easy and took just a few minutes. Thank you.

Great, glad to hear it. This is the ONE thing I don't like about Triumph. I love the bike, but they really should let people do their own maintenance like an oil change at least. My dealer is almost an hour away and not only is it expensive, but time consuming and like you said, hard to get an appointment. Glad you were able to save money and time and do it yourself!

I actually worked with the developer when the trident first came out. I was lucky enough to get one of the first bikes. I used tune ecu with my tiger 1200. When I tried it on my trident. It didn't work. I contacted developer. A few days of passing data back and forth and done. He did it. The man is a genius.

Nice video Joe! I wonder if this will work the same for the new Triumph Tiger Sport 660? I know the engine is identical to the Trident, but wondering if the ECU is also.

I’m curious too. I know they share many similarities but they are also mapped differently. But it might be close enough that the maintenance process is still the same. If your on FB you can join the TuneECU page. The guy who makes the program is always on there answering questions. He was the one that responded to one of my posts in there and said TuneECU was now updated to support the Trident.

Hi Marvin. I myself haven't tried it but our bikes here in the US are not restricted so I haven't had the need to look into it. Like you said, I k kw there are places that will flash you ECU for different mapping etc but it's pricey. I believe there are ways to do it yourself but it may be risky. You don't want to brick your ECU and then have to buy a new one from dealer. Personally that is something I would leave up to the pros. But I'm sure with some research you can find a way to do it. Keep in touch if you find a way. I'm sure as more people have this bike and Time goes on we will start seeing videos of people doing it
@marvyd
@marvyd 2 жыл бұрын
@@Mudslidex1 it has been done and it very similar to what you did. only difference is getting the right file .hex file for TT660 and let it do it's thing. easy peasy. check out this video on the abilities of TuneECU and how it was remapped/derestricted on the Triumph Speed Twin - kzbin.info/www/bejne/kInTipWQpcaBl8k I know it's a bit long video. but my super risk averse younger bro who doesnt even drive a car, (but he's great with computers) told me that it seems pretty straight forward after seeing this video. your part for removing the warning wrench icon was only a fraction of what TuneEcu can do. I'll need to find the .hex file where the parameters involve a Zard exhaust + a DNA air filter. the usual stock exhaust file is generally free on the tune ECU website.
@Mudslidex1
@Mudslidex1 2 жыл бұрын
@@marvyd Yeah, the tricky part is getting the correct mapping. If you can find someone with your same setup and copy their file then you should be good. The issue is if their mapping is not an exact match to your hardware, then you may have issues. Also if you somehow lose connection or battery level drops during the flash, you can ruin the ECU. But that's why everyone connects a charger while doing the flash. Good luck, it sounds like you have it worked out.

I hear that you have that same whine on your Trident that I do. The dealer said it was normal to hear that on Triumph bikes. Have you ever figured out what that sound is when you turn on the electronics of the bike? They seen to all do that. I now have 23 Triumph Tiger 900GT and it does the same thing. I believe it has something to do with the electronic ignition.
