I'm 70 now, lived the era. Wondering where it all went, my kids and grandkids will never understand. Wasn't always easy but would do it all again If given the chance. Triumph, one of the GREATEST!

I can name a dozen vocalists that people say have incredible range that could never match Rik Emmett live. This is so clean yet powerful.
@derrickb4278 жыл бұрын
20sk Haha yes I know the lead singer of Rush, the OTHER power rock trio from Canada. I just prefer Rik's vocals over Geddy's. Plus, he can hold those higher notes with more ease live than Geddy.
@tjfreak8 жыл бұрын
I never really dug Geddy's voice from the start..I tried & then stopped fooling myself,it's the reason well the main reason I didn't submerge myself in them after ATWAS & that will probably will not win me any friends.. lol..Gedd'ys extreme… Rik's about as far in that range that i ever wanna go.

Please name them. I cannot recognize / think of any names you might be referring to.

MrMaukka10 Axl Rose, Freddie Mercury, Geddy Lee, Steven Tyler, Meatloaf, Lou Gramm, Jimmi Jameson, Ozzy Osbourne, Roger Daltrey, Roger Waters, Robert Plant, Brian Johnson. There ya go a dozen. Keep in mind, my comment referred to when they sing LIVE.
@thanksfernuthin11 жыл бұрын
Wow. Pretty amazing. When you hear him sing on studio recordings his voice is so high and clear. But, you would expect him to be straining or trailing off at a live show. Apparently he can sing like that with almost no effort. Lucky man! Lucky us!

Sharry Bucholz A brain tumor put an indefinite hold on the divinity of Lou Gramm's voice, but at his peak, I would have put him up against Rik Emmett anytime. Taking nothing away from Rik Emmett, you understand, imho, Lou Gramm is the GOAT. How awesome would it be to judge a sort of .."sing off"... between the two?

On the relationship level absolutely, in comparison to the deep level of RUSH not so much. But who cared, sometimes you wanted to think deep intellectually so you put on RUSH. Sometimes you just wanted to not think so much and just enjoy the depth of talent Triumph had, that was cool too. You know the adage some time you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't. We in Southern Ontario, always had a heaping help of both, and enjoyed them both, and of course the 3rd Toronto Trio, FM with another completely different style of space prog. After that we got to enjoy the Trio Klaatu, with their pop/rock/prog musical passion. We were so lucky to have these incredible local Trio's kicking ass all over the place. Concerts were on all the time with them all, well Klaatu not so much, lol, and damn we had a good time.

Ya agreed brother, bring back the 80s I was in highschool back then class of 86, had the time of my life back in the 80s. 80s is better generation then today that much I can tell, it was a simpler time, everything was better music, television. anyways keep on rocking in the 80s I know I will.

Of course we all know what a badass guitarist Rik is and what an incredible voice! But let’s not leave out Gil Moore. Listen to his range when he backs up Rik at the end of the phrase Lay It On The Line. He gets higher than Rik! Just awesome musicianship all the way around!

Such an underrated band, let alone Rik Emmet's vocals. I'm 61 and I still listen to their music. The bands during this time were truly talented master's of music. There was no such thing as auto tuning. You had to be the real deal or you didn't survive in the business. I truly believe the Era I grew up in had the best music artists.

I was a serious Triumph head in my high school days and then some. The greatest shows that I work all we're Triumph. Certainly the greatest Canadian band ever. Rik Emmett was truly underrated as both a singer and guitar player. He was world class both. The drummer was second only to Neil Peart. And they were using lasers and pyrotechnics long before everyone else

I know they play a different type of music, but in my opinion they are every bit as good of a 3 piece as Rush. How they got that much sound out of 3 instruments boggles my mind. Then you have the golden voice of Rik Emmett, you have pure gold. Live they almost sounded better all the way around than the studio versions of their songs. Amazing!
@WilliamBrown-gj8rt8 жыл бұрын
+Chris J Totally agree. It's very rare when the best of bands can sound as good or better in concert than the studio.
@MrMaukka108 жыл бұрын
+Chris J I've always wondered if these are real live vocals? If so - hat of! Amazing stuff. And a great band w/ some awesome other pieces too.
@TheSiscoKid21128 жыл бұрын
+Chris J This version sounds a lot more refined and close to the studio version because they had a second guitarist in the background playing the back-up parts. This was the only tour where they played the original solo instead of part of the solo of another song of theirs: Don't Take My Life.
@CabWall8 жыл бұрын
