Or he chose it because carbon atom is somehow a unit of measurement) 1/12 of the mass of an atom of the most abundant carbon isotope - carbon-12 - is 1 atomic mass unit, and conveniently it has 6 protons and 6 neutrons. You may wonder, why not just the mass of a proton or neutron? Because on atomic scale sum of parts is not equal to parts separately, lol.

@@Blackwing2345635Wdym sum of parts is not equal to parts separately?

@@burnedpizzacrust1199 if you weight a proton and a neutron separately and sum their masses - you will get more, than the mass of a nucleus of deuterium (1p+1n). Because some of it went to the energy of nuclear interaction. If you break this nucleus and weight a neutron and a proton afterwards - they will wieght the same as before combining into a nucleus of deuterium.
@burnedpizzacrust11992 ай бұрын
@@Blackwing2345635 I mean I guess the mass would be different if we don't include the one converted into binding energy
@Blackwing23456352 ай бұрын
@@burnedpizzacrust1199 well, it wasn't so obvious back then) You don't get this effect with EM and gravity. It also changes, for example, inertia. You need different amount of energy to accelerate nucleus and its composition separately (except, obviously, regular hydrogen nucleus, that is only a single proton). So this effect matters. Topic of AMU (atomic mass unit) is pretty interesting in general. Though different nuclei have different binding energy, and thus different mass defect, using a free proton/neutron mass is still less convenient and would annoy chemists a lot. So carbon-12 specifically turned out to be a nice middle ground between ease of measurement, nice even composition, abundance, applicability in both physics and chemistry, etc.

Hot tip: there are a bunch of technical arguments for when to use and not use commas, but the simple version is that you use a comma whenever you pause mid-sentence. If you think of writing like music, a period is a full rest and a comma is a half rest. If you can figure out diction, or just sound out a sentence, you'll know where commas are supposed to go. The technical rules are that you're supposed to use a comma to separate clauses, interjections, and items on a list. But, when you think about how English speakers talk, or, at least, how they're supposed to talk, all of those things are places where English speakers will pause naturally. Commas are also in some cases optional, like in the previous sentence during 'or, at least, how...' Neither of those commas were needed, but when you see them, you know to pause at those points and add emphasis on those words, which is how they were written and how they were intended to be read. Basically, you can feel free to drop commas wherever they'd feel natural when reading your words aloud. The optional ones are helpful even if not mandatory, and if you have the cadence down, where commas are mandatory, you're going to naturally put them there.

Fun fact : The real reason a circle is 360° is because 360 has a lot of factors, such as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 15 and so on, 24 factors in total. This makes it very easy to divide a circle into these numbers of parts without the need for fractions or long decimal places. Some sources also say the choice of 360 is due to different counting systems in some ancient empires such as the babylonians that use a base value of 60 instead of 10 like we do now

Yeah, 100 isn't divisible by 3 (or any multiples of course) so it doesn't work out that well. Also, I think babylonians (who invented the 360 system) worked in base 60... right? So they made it 6 60s.

I love how there was some actual skill to understanding the questions, opposing what Noah said at the start, then at the final question they fullfilled that prophecy and made it devoid of skill in the end 😂

Unironically the best ad of all time, had me on the edge of my seat just for it to be an advertisement lol

13:00 the only correct answer to how big is space is: "“Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space."

The question at 12:28 was a missed opportunity for a great troll: it's obviously north korea (very distinct shape) but the official name of the country isn't North Korea: it's the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). Would've been a really good bit if anyone actually guessed North Korea

11:20 is the most infuriating part of this video. the Konami Code actually gives you 33 extra lives in the original Contra, not "an" extra life. This question is invalid.
