Then the Wampa picks up his severed arm and walks farther back into his cave, and there, he's got a little tea party set up with a table, a tea set, and toy animals seated around the table. Then he sits down at the table and sheds a tear. It was sad and funny at the same time. Mark Hamill actually felt bad about the snow cave scene. He said the Wampa was just a natural creature behaving the way nature intended, and he thought that, being in touch with nature through the Force, Luke would use the Jedi mind trick or use his light saber to scare it away rather than hurt it.

Interesting story about Harrison Ford. Right up until he was offered the role, Lucas had never even considered him. Basically, he had for a long period unsuccessfully tried to 'make it' as an actor, but eventually become a self taught carpenter (he was known locally in Hollywood as _carpenter to the stars)._ Then, all but having given up his acting career, a friend persuaded George Lucas to allow Ford, not to audition but to act as a stand in whilst other actors auditioned for various other SW parts. Ford was reluctant because he'd already given up and knew that technically it wasn't an audition. He was eventually was persuaded by the friend on the grounds that there might be others who will see it, and recognise him as star material. Lucas again made it clear that Ford was not to act during the readings, just read the lines neutrally and allow the auditionees to do their stuff. Ford agreed but 'acted' so noncommittally and sullenly that it turned out to be precisely the sort of _Han Solo_ that Lucas was looking for! So he hired him.

Star Wars made a lot of money, so they made Empire Strikes Back, and by the time Return of the Jedi appeared Lucas began believing his own PR, and invented the myth of a great saga. *Kurosawa was popular. Seven Samurai was the source for The Magnificent Seven. Yojimbo was the source for Sergio Leone's Fistful of Dollars.

In the original version of the film, they don't show the full wampa creature like you see in the Special Edition that forms the basis of all subsequent releases. IMO it's FAR more effective that way, because you never quite know what you're dealing with, and that makes it scarier (this is how Batman works: When you SEE Batman he just looks ridiculous. But have him darting around through the darkness where you don't know what's picking off your thugs one-by-one he's downright terrifying). Major Derlin (the officer who says "Everyone to your stations! Let's go!") is played by Cliff from Cheers. An ion cannon is basically a targeted EMP that fries the power systems of whatever you're shooting at. So when the Star Destroyer was hit it lost all power and was unable to fire on the fleeing transport. The upper guns of a Y-wing Starfighter are light ion cannon. There's also ion torpedoes, which do the same job but on a heavier scale than most starfighters can manage. The reason the Rebels were fighting is because any sort of armed resistance will do a better job holding off the ground assault than no resistance at all. They're not EXPECTING to win, it's just a holding action. These are Imperial Snowtroopers we see on Hoth, which are basically stormtroopers specialized for cold weather operations. That's why their armor looks different. Since you've already done the Prequels by the time I watch this, it really is crazy just how huge and how many plotholes the Prequels created. Artoo knows DAMN WELL who/what Yoda is. When Luke asks if Yoda "knows him," Artoo should have been screaming "He's right in front of you!" The conversation between Vader and the Emperor was COMPLETELY changed in the Special Edition. The Emperor's dialogue is completely different in the two versions, plus the effects were different (they used a woman's face, but superimposed with a chimpanzee's eyes). I REALLY recommend you watch the unaltered versions at some point. Not that I would condone such a thing, but google 4k77, 4k80, and 4k83. The fact it took Yoda so much effort to lift a single X-wing out of the swamp that he had to set himself and concentrate makes the scene in Episode III where he's casually playing dodgeball with the senate pods against Palpatine even MORE ridiculous. While Ozzel was both arrogant AND an idiot, Needa's execution really was unfair. He wasn't a coward that tried to avoid facing Vader. He wasn't planning to make excuses. He was being a good commander by accepting responsibility for his failure. This movie is yet another example of why every time Lucas says he had the entire saga planned out he's just full of it. The "other" Yoda mentions was NOT originally going to be who it ended up being. Harrison Ford improvised "I know." As scripted the had a much longer response, but Ford felt it was not fitting for his character. Leia is honestly the best shot with a blaster in the entire Original Trilogy. Even with the notoriously inaccurate E-11 stormtrooper rifle (which, as a nod to the infamous inability of stormtroopers to hit anything, is almost always depicted in games as having a very large shot pattern, making it hard for pin-point shooting) Leia rarely misses. Another sign that Lucas is full of BS when he claims he had the entire saga planned from the start: In the original story treatment, throughout development, and in EVERY VERSION OF THE SHOOTING SCRIPT at EVERY stage of the drafting process, Vader and Anakin Skywalker were explicitly two different people. David Prowse (the on-set actor who played Vader) even read the line that elicits Luke's anguished reaction as "Obi-Wan killed your father." He was just as surprised as everyone else when he heard James Earl Jones's (who provided the actual voice) immortal, "I am your father." That decision was literally made when Jones was in the recording booth, at the very last possible moment. So no, Lucas DID NOT have the entire saga planned from the start. He had a treatment for ONE movie, and then made the rest up as he went along. I love how Piett is standing there expecting to get Force-choked, and Vader just...walks away. It really shows just how angry and disappointed Vader is in that moment. The medical ship at the end was modified from what is called a Nebulon-B Escort Frigate. Basically, it's a relatively small ship with a LOT of guns (I once counted at least a dozen cannon in the bow). This particular ship is named Redemption, and is the source of one of the most legendarily difficult escort missions in the history of gaming, in the 1992 space-combat simulator, X-Wing (anyone else who's played it knows what I'm talking about). In fact, its difficulty is SO famous that the mission got immortalized in Michael Stackpole's X-Wing novels as the Star Wars version of the Kobayashi Maru. No one quite knows what that stellar formation Luke and Leia are watching at the end is supposed to be. According to astrophysicist and Star Wars tech nerd Dr. Curtis Saxton, it rotates FAR too fast for it to be another galaxy.

The creature Luke and Han are riding is called Ton-Ton, the giant camel robot is called Imperial Walkers, there are different versions of Storm Troopers & what they are called I've no idea, the dark master is Emperor Palpatine & interesting you mentioned scars because Mark Hamill (Luke) was in an accident that left him a noticeable scar & therefore they wrote the scene with the Yeti attack so it would explain why Luke has this scar. Why they didn't use make-up I guess didn't help & when they did that on The Star Wars Holiday Special it looked like Mark had a very bad sun tan =P

The troopers on Hoth are a type called Snow Troopers. They Stormtroopers but in specialized gear to handle cold environments. Also before Disney did away with the EU, the creature Luke runs into on Hoth is called a Wampa, in one of the EU novels that take place some years later that particular creature was actually still alive and remembered Luke in that books story.

Late, I know... Han survived with Luke by setting up a shelter. "That'll keep you warm till I get the shelter up" (paraphrase), he said. The Rebel ground troops were fighting a stalling action to give time for the main force to escape. They didn't do much, though.

Han kissed Leia to force the issue. Leia is hiding behind her station, and stoic character quality. Remember she had her entire planet destroyed. Every one she knew, what is left of her people turned into homeless vagabonds. The only thing left is the fight against the Empire. In Eco base Leia is fighting with Han because he is leaving. So in the Falcon, when Leia cannot hide behind her duties in Eco base, or propriety, he pushes. Knowing that there is a mutual affection. Sure it could have gone wrong. But you have to take chances. If Leia told him to piss off after that, he would let it lie, and keep on helping. Until they were safe.

You know, I just came to a realization but I may be remembering this wrong. Luke kind've claims to be something of a hot shot pilot. But of the four times that we see Luke flying something, he crashes two of those times: 1) Battle of Yavin (combat; successful flight) 2) Battle of Hoth (combat; crash) 3) Flight to Dagobah (non-combat; crash) 4) Flight to Bespin (non-combat; successful flight) I think that any other pilot with a rating like that would have been grounded long ago. :D
