Unfortunately I can't agree. Bella Ramsey has NO emotional range whatsoever. She looks the same no matter WHAT emotion they are trying to pretend she has. She looks like nothing ever phases her. And when she does surprise me it's only for an instant THEN she's back to emotionless. I am certain the ONLY reason she was cast was because she and Ellie are the same age as of Part two of the game. The writers are already planning ahead for part two in which they'll age Ellie up and since Bella Ramsey is already 20 years old they don't have to recast her. Plus she's very small and petite and can pull off LOOKING 14 years old, At least in size. She most certainly does NOT look 14 in her face. That is clearly an adult and THAT is the issue. she should be more freaked out on a daily basis and afraid of almost everything around her. Her face should be a near constant mask of terror and yet she shows LESS emotion than Joel; and that's saying something.

@@patrickcromwell7554 What are you talking about? Bella's got a wonderfully expressive face, and has already given us a wide range of emotions. I don't know why you're expecting him to play Ellie as "freaked out on a daily basis and afraid of almost everything around her" as that's simply not the character, in the game or the TV show. If that's how _you'd_ react to having to survive in that environment, well, that's understandable; but don't forget Ellie wasn't even _born_ when our civilization fell. She's grown up in this hellhole world and most of the stuff you or I might panic about is just her "normal", so it doesn't make any sense for her to be afraid of everything. Honestly, I think the writers are doing an excellent job at capturing that teenage grey area between childhood and adulthood, and Bella's doing a brilliant job of portraying it.

Henry mentioned earlier that "pointing that empty gun at you is the closest I've ever come to violence". If he was being truthful, then the first time he ever shot someone was when he had to put down his own brother, and then the second time was on himself 😢 This show knows how to bring the heartbreak.

It really shows how strong Joel is in a way. Bill lost his purpose when Frank died, and he chose to die. Henry lost his purpose when Sam died, and he chose to die. Joel lost his purpose when Sarah died... and again when Tess died... and he chose to keep finding something to fight for.
@alexelion7084
@alexelion7084 Жыл бұрын
@@Ladco77 Yes and no. There are some differences in the situations because of which the reactions make more sense. Bill was old and already had a good life, that’s why he chose to go out on a happy note. Henry did terrible things to keep Sam alive, things that went against his own morals. He didn’t sympathized with FEDRA, he betrayed someone he admired. So when Sam died Henry did not only lose his brother but all the things he did were for nothing and he also didn’t really have any purpose anymore. Joel on the other hand still has his brother Tommy and his motivation is to find and save him. He didn’t have the burden of doing very bad things before Sarah died and Tess literally gave him a mission as her dying wish. So yes, Joel is strong for continuing to choose life, but I don’t think you can’t make that comparison, especially if you imply that Bill and Henry are „weak“ for their choices

Most people with sufficient hearing loss to be considered deaf have a limited ability to process very loud sounds, so gunshots can often still be "heard" after a fashion, but are generally not a sensation they will be accustomed to. Even those who can't process the sound can still feel the movement through the air and other media as the concussive forces and sounds pass. And anyone who doesn't get startled by unexpected shooting There are the run of the mill infected, then there are the clickers the ones the fungus covers what's left of their head, big mouth, no eyes, looks like their skull split open. Tess put an axe in one's head and Joel still had to shoot it several times after. (One could say "Tess was burying the hatchet")

Ellie and Joel switch sides at the end. That was the Tess moment from episode 2. Ellie runs ahead while Joel is still waiting at the grave. Tess gave Joel a mission he wanted to fulfill as her last wish. The relationship that Joel had with Tess was similar to Ellie and Sam. Ellie promised (unspoken with hope) Sam the cure here and couldn't keep this promise. She now wants to make sure that this never happens again. As Tess said at the time "save who you can save". Ellie really has a mission now. Indirectly get through her feelings of guilt. She wants her blood to work. Before that, she was someone who had no control over anything. Others have determined where she grows up and where she has to go now. "I didn't ask for this" were her words in episode 2. Now that has changed. Now conviction plays a role and she takes control. She wants to save the world so that there are no more Sam's. And while Joel gradually finds his humanity again and lets people into his life again, Ellie loses a little more of herself and she takes the lead here in the end. I think the series showed that more clearly in this way than the game did. In addition, Ellie and Joel have reached a new level of connection with each other. Wordless understanding. Both wanted to save the brothers during the attack. That wasn't Joel's "don't do it Ellie" look. That was the look "I'll give you fire protection Ellie". And Ellie has absolute confidence in Joel. There was also a little joke about the game. The moment when the sniper shot and Henry and Sam senselessly ran out of cover, only to return immediately. This is how Ellie behaved very often in the game. She ran out of cover, right in front of the enemy and then back again. 😁 Spoiler Part 2 Game: Oh yes and btw we all hate Kathleen for what she does. She subordinates everything to her revenge. How do we know this? Part 2. A main charakter becomes Kathleen. And we all loved what this main character was doing.

PLEASE don't put Spoilers in your comments. There's zero need for anyone to know anything beforehand! Do the right thing, delete that part of the comment. 🤨 And btw, Ellie isn't losing part of herself, she's simply leaving more of her childishness behind; she's feeling what responsibility feels like. The show brilliantly put that more into high gear by having the sniper start shooting right in the middle of Ellie's cutesy, playful remarks about Joel's "overcautiousness".

@Coyote I don't know why you're not understanding this. I'll say it again: there's ZERO reason for anyone to put Spoilers in the comments! Comments can be seen by anybody, not just Trixy! I don't even think she reads many comments here, but that's beside the point. Lots of people who never played the game, including myself, read comments. And changing it from Ellie to "a main character" doesn't change anything. There are maybe 3 "main" characters, & only 1 of those is a girl, someone who could "become Kathleen". It doesn't matter if you mark it as a SPOILER. NOBODY WANTS TO SEE IT. PLEASE, edit it out.

I've been trying to determine what it is about Kathleen that the producers were doing with her. She wasn't meant to be super menacing or to make you identify with her...she's just a villain for an episode and a half. I actually appreciate that. It makes the focus on Henry and Sam that much more heartbreaking. And oh boy...that was heartbreaking 😭😭😭😭 Even when you know it's coming because of the game, this show still has a way to twist your expectations. Thanks for the react, Blue! You're incredible!

Her arc pretty well serves to illustrate what a no-win strategy vengeance is. It doesn't bring the dead back, all it does is make people hate each other more. She should've listened to her brother's advice to be forgiving, she & the whole city would've been much better off. She stands as an example of a wrong attitude. 😒

I think she's just a personification of tribalistic tendencies. We see her constantly judging her in group and out group by radically different standards. She has no problem with her people ambushing and killing outsiders but retains a grudge with Joel for killing one person in self defense. She tells Henry that he should just accept that Sam is just one person, and an acceptable loss for the greater good, but she's so focused on her own revenge that she still goes after Henry in the middle of her people being massacred. She seems very normal and has genuine empathy for people within her in group, but doesn't have the slightest evidence of remorse for anything bad she does to people outside the group. All in all, she and her group resemble many historical events where an oppressed or suffering group took over and then immediately became the oppressors as they built a tribalistic narrative of everybody outside the group being less important than them. You can even see some hesitancy in her followers as they think twice about brutalistic orders, but follow them anyway. I think the important part of her character is that she herself isn't important, but what she represents is. She's what happened when the group lost it's charismatic leader and direction and reverted to tribalism and hatred. I think even if she herself wasn't there as the leader figure, the group would still end up doing the same sorts of things, because groups of humans just have this way of identifying their group and then othering everybody else.
