I realize this is old and you won't be reading it. But for anyone who does, let me make a recommendation. Try the Special Edition FMT Telecaster with two Seymore Duncan humbuckers that coil split. It also has the channel bound fret board, comfort cut and beveled neck. Plus the flame maple top is round carved. Its basically a Les Paul in Telecaster form. I love it dearly.
@matthewf19793 жыл бұрын
I recommend filling and stabilizing the fingerboard with rosewood dust and superglue. 1-Clean off the spots with alcohol 2-Scrape up a bit of rosewood dust with a razor blade 3-Pack the repair area with the dust 4-Apply a conservative amount of superglue 5-Let it set 6-After it’s set, scrap level with the razor blade. There’s all kinds of videos on KZbin showing this very simple process. The ease of repairs to rosewood fingerboards is a significant reason why I prefer it on guitars. Ebony is good for the same reason.

Gibson routs could look like they were done with a chainsaw and Trogly wouldn't care but if a Fender/PRS has one chip he flips out
@jorisev3 жыл бұрын
To be honest, I’m shocked by both companies’ qc. The additional routing under the pickguard already shows how lazy they are, but that sort of fretboard damage on a new, US made 2000 dollar guitar? I’d send it back...
@jorisev3 жыл бұрын
@@guitarocd9984 this is actually why I like Trogly's channel. Other guitar store youtube channels just focus on the positives, because they need to sell stuff of course. Trogly shows exactly what you get, in detail. On a side note: for this kind of money, people should check out Music Man guitars. Now those guys know what qc is, their guitars are truly flawless out of the factory.
@kellyb94323 жыл бұрын
That's more than a chip. The wood is cracked from where the dot is to just shy of the binding, it looks like the fret was pulled and replaced. All he pointed out was the little piece of the chip-out that flaked off, but there's a chance the rest of it might flake off eventually.
@kellyb94323 жыл бұрын
@@guitarocd9984 Someone goofed, that's for sure, and that's too nice a fretboard to scrap. I wonder if the fretboard sank a bit and end of the fret was lifted by the maple edge, but I have no idea how they assemble the Channel Bound style, and I wonder if they are inherently difficult to make. I would have been very conflicted receiving it like that, but knowing it in advance I probably wouldn't care too much. I recently bought a 2021 American Professional II in Sienna Sunburst..which I think is the most gorgeous finish when combined with the maple fretboard, chrome hardware and the off white 3 ply pickguard. It was the only one at the shop so I grabbed it, then when I got home I checked out the other finishes and was very happy with my purchase! Anyhow..the setup took me 2 weeks to get it so the string height is down to factory suggested minimums of 4/64 high e to 6/64 low e but it's perfect and no fret buzz. The micro tilt adjust is useless as the top of the neck has to come out, not the bottom. This is the most perfect setup I've ever gotten from any guitar..thank you Fender for not gluing the neck in!!
