Actually more important Gibson needs to ship their guitars in climate bags like Martin and some Taylor’s do. My Gibson Elvis Presley Dove shipped in the coldest month we had this year (Feb 2023) and had a lacquer check/crack right down the centre seam after opening the case….Even after waiting 24hrs.

On any other channel this would be clickbaity but this is one of the few that literally NEVER clickbaits (unless it's for comedic effects). That's cool to finally have reached the level where you can put an order like this together and actually get them all. Even a lot of dealers would have trouble with it, I think, because it's not "whatever we send you" it's "what you're requesting". Good job building up the channel and thanks for a cool video!

Yep loved that one too and would definitely want to buy one some day. What also hit me was - sigh- some of the QA issues again. Only minor things but Gibson is supposed to be the greatest guitar maker in the world (and charges prices to match) so they really shouldn;t be shipping guitars with any issues however minor. Just a little gripe there but if I had that Sparkling Burgundy I wouldn't mind as few cosmetic flaws 😎

Trogly is a beast. Historic record indeed. When I was 14 I bought a Gibson explorer from my local store for around $800. It was a E90 dbl. For 2 decades, I had no idea what I even had. When I really wanted to know what kind of guitar I had, I called Gibson. Was not able to get any info. The only info I could find was Trogly's review. So I feel his amazing documentation on this model priceless. Have been a fan and sub ever since. Love your channel Trogly!

14 of the 24 guitars have some type of blemishe. I've constantly complained about Gibson's so-called "quality control." I've been burned more than once. That's why I buy guitars from Sweetwater. The only problem is that they use FedEx. When a signature is required for delivery, multiple times I've had FedEx drivers claimed to have tried to deliver, that I wasn't home. A complete lie. I was home. It's a habit with FedEx in my area.

The natural backs look so great! It gives these a fancier look. I know people say it's cost savings, but it's really not. It's more work masking off the entire body except the top than to just spray the entire guitar one color. And they still have to spray the entire body in clearcoat too. Yes minor savings in finish cost, but countered by more cost in labor to paint it. Also, I'm disappointed in both blueberry guitars you got. Neither have enough purple in them to get that nice color transition. Great guide though for choosing what to get. Sold me on 60s versions and a few of the colors.

Gibson’s Quality Sure don’t match their prices!! Gibson has very poor quality control and for them charging $2500+ per guitar there shouldn’t be not one blemish on it ! I can understand that on a couple hundred dollar guitar but that’s unacceptable on a guitar that costs what they do. I ordered a brand New Gibson les Paul once and straight from the factory it came with a warped neck. So I went to USA made Stratocasters & Telecasters. I can buy the Regular USA run of the mill or Custom Shop and I haven’t gotten anything but Quality Guitars from Fender! I even brought a $600 Mexico made one from Guitar Center because it was an anniversary Strat Edition in the Special Metal flake Orange paint job and the quality was superb even for a Mexican made one. I think Gibson’s Way overrated way over priced & from the looks of the quality their factory employees is a bunch of drunks or dope heads . Fender and PRS Now that’s where the quality guitars are made. 😉
@Somenite
@Somenite Жыл бұрын
I understand what you're saying but Fender in general is making much more basic guitars. They are slab construction with a single type of wood, no binding, no block inlays and a poly finish. All the work they are doing can basically be done by CNC machining with little hand finishing. The LPs have a carved top with two types of wood and binding which require a lot of hand sanding and finishing. The Nitro finish is far more labor intensive than poly and takes time to apply coats. Fender is doing far less hand finishing work with their guitars and there are still plenty of issues. Watch some videos reviews of the American Vintage II's and there are plenty of guys pointing out QC issues and those run in the low 2K range. One of the issues I've seen shown in multiple videos is the neck pocket being too big or neck installed slightly crooked. That can be corrected on a bolt on neck so Fender isn't catching a lot of grief for it as opposed to a Gibson where if that ever happened the guitar would be scrap wood since it's set neck. I have more than one LP including older models and each one has at least one thing that would be considered a factory error such as a little overspray on the binding that should have been scrapped. However, they were all things I had to look for and nothing I ever noticed after the guitar had a few months of wear and tear on it. For me, those little character flaws are just part of owning a guitar with so much hand finishing much like understanding that if you own a strat you are likely going to get some finish cracks in the neck pocket eventually.

As far as collecting guitars go, I could only have one growing up and it was usually a cheap knock off. Around 2008, I started collecting. One issue I found was listening to other guitarists tell me what I "should" play. As a result, I've bought & sold at least FIVE Fender Stratocasters - I now know that I don't like strats. I bought an Epiphone gold top with P-90's that I absolutely hated. All told, I've bought over 40's guitars that I no longer own. Fortunately, there's a market on ebay & Reverb and I've rarely lost money on guitars. I get the experience of trying a guitar and if I like it, it stays. Otherwise, it gets sold. I tend to collect "unique" guitars, like a Caparison with the clock face fret markers, or a 1985 Kramer Baretta, or a Custom Les Paul with a Floyd Rose from the factory. To me, getting something that nobody else has is fun. They're usually not that expensive either.

This guy has more money than sense…I say this for several reasons: 1) His unexplainable fetish for Norlin era Gibsons which, to most of us Gibson players, was the worst era of quality control in the history of the company 2) His unexplainable fetish for contemporary and new era USA models. Most of them are not worth anywhere close to their pricing - ask a real player. 3) His fascination for “display only” collectibles - never meant to be played. Why? What’s the purpose? Why have a guitar you can’t play. Well, if you’ve watched his demos you know the answer…it doesn’t make a real difference to him if it’s a fine playing and sounding axe because, quite frankly, he’s an “intermediate level” player - just a small notch above a beginner (albeit a moderately talented beginner). Some of his demos have made me cringe. 4) A “trog” is a cave dweller if memory serves me. I’m curious, in this mommy’s basement or your wife’s parent’s basement? If it’s your own, My apologies…however, the amount of Money spent unwisely (imho) is concerning. Are you truly operating a viable, profitable “buy/sell/trade” guitar business?…or is your guitar fetish subsidized by an inheritance or other financial support by an outside party? 5) This guy just comes across like he was born with a silver spoon imho I watch sometimes but most times I click on for 10 seconds and then off. To each his own - if you guys enjoy him- please watch. For me, it’s a “meh” moment and then I move on. If you enjoy him, then enjoy him. My opinion is only just that. Opinions are like a$$holes - everybody has one and they stink to everyone but their owner. 🤣🤪🤣

Man. For the amount gibson charges their QC is shotty, at best. I have a 2016 T that i lucked out on. But, my god, gibsons chinese competition is making gibson look like $%#@. I have some of their Chinese made competition, and i would put it up against gibson, any day. Do not buy a gibson new, unless you really enjoy being over charged harley Davidson style, for what is now nothing more than a lifestyle brand. If you do buy a gibson guitar. Make certain you also buy a gibson jacket and pants to wear when you play. That way people will know what yer all about. When it comes to USA made. Look, you can buy a 35-50 dollar buck knife that will likely arrive in hand flawless. If you can jot be 100% guaranteed to spend a few grand on an *electric string twanger* and have it arrive flawless. You might be a chump.
