So here in the UK there wasn't much difference in price across the colours of ps4 pro. I even managed to grab a god of war PS4 pro for £170 just the other day. Not a mark on it. Cuh 7116 I believe (2nd gen PS4 pro). Cheers.

nice work keeping these Pros on the road! (so to speak) Loved the SSD repair - i work in IT, and it has always been hilarious how easy it is to break those SATA connectors (power too).

I've installed thousands of HD's and SSD's since 1996 and I have never broken a HD Connector and on old computers they fit extremely tight! Not sure what one has to do to break one of those but it has to be pure negligence.
@NikMitchell
@NikMitchell 10 ай бұрын
@@theINQBS I haven't either - but they are designed to stay put once connected. Disconnecting them is always tricky. It's like they spent more time designing the connector's closed position to be fierce than actually trying using them in practice. Exposed connectors never help either, also an easy thing to screw up if you aren't careful. Not everyone's a pro, but these connectors in general are poorly designed. PATA was a better connector design than SATA (though bent pins on one side of the hard drive were pretty common to find from people not pulling them out straight).

@jaro6985

Its a tiny length so the wire can be small, anything that is physically strong enough, also a fan doesn't draw too much power.

I started up a small repair service out of home at the beginning of the year, but had to stop because of lying customers. Always claiming that they didn’t open up their units, to discovering broken traces, dried flux everywhere, and warped/burnt PCB caused by excessive soldering. It’s always idiots dropping their consoles, breaking the HDMI port and using random KZbin videos as reference without any experience using equipment, much less steady hands. I don't have the patience to deal with customers that claim, “the customer is always right,” when they clearly lied through their teeth.

When i had the PS4 Pro it sounded like a jet engine. I did the whole cleaning and reapplying thermal paste and to be fair it was whisper quiet for a number of weeks but it didn't take long before the fan noise started to creep up again. I think they're just inherently a dust magnet and I wasn't going to keep stripping it down. I'm glad the PS5 came along and I sold the Pro in the end.

I butchered 2 Sega Saturns last year but at least they were cheap I tried doing the Fram mod, I actually desoldered the old chip fine but misaligned the new chip and ripped the traces when removing the new chip, the 2nd one I tore traces removing the old chip and then misunderstood about soldering to a via and damaged the via so it was irrepairable. but I would never try with a expensive modern device.
