5 BROKEN Special Edition PS4's - Repairs & Shell Swaps - These 5 broken Special Edition PlayStation 4s have been sitting around my shop for a while so I decided to try one more time to fix them... and if not, I'll at least swap the cases onto working PS4s. I probably won't be able to fix all of them, but hopefully at least a few... hopefully.

You need to tighten those two screws that hold down the APU pressure plate. Add washers if needed but apply the pressure very gently. Paste has nothing to do with this problem.

I bought a PS4 from a work colleague for £40, which had BLOD. I "fixed" it with a couple of washers. Still going strong. Even if it died tomorrow, I definitely got my money's worth!

Could you do a video of investigating the e106 etc errors that are due to the Xbox 1S&1X internal hdd SATA connector going bad?? Never knew until it happened to me. New hdd and offline updates all fail but there’s people who bypass the data part with off the shelf SATA and use an extension power SATA cable to continue connecting to the proprietary OG connector’s power plug. A real mess I’m not sure many Xbox owners are aware of

@@Lukeno52 I have a Switch with a corrupted save that I bought as defective. It's an easy fix, just go into the recovery menue and reset the Switch. Problem is, the first owner didn't know that and sold it as defective, the (atleast) second owner didn't bother with it and sold it on and now I have it and have no way of reaching the original owner to ask them about the parental controll pin. A reset is only possible with the parental controll pin. And because I also can't get an inquiry number I also can't get the parental controll master pin from Nintendo. At the moment I hope that Nintendo releases a full system update soon and that this maybe fixes it.

speaking of thermal paste. I replaced it on my laptop. It's about a year old now. It works but it ran hotter than I'd like and the fan was going crazy all the time. There was a TON of thermal paste on the substrate, but almost none on the silicon. So I replaced it. It runs a lot cooler. The fan doesn't run as much as before. But it still goes crazy at times. I may replace the fan since it makes so much noise. That silicon was tiny. I know the Ryzen 4700U was a low power chip, but damn it's small. Still it's an improvement.

My original PS4 still works after 7 years. I did have a few problems with it like disc drive, hdd and fan. I was able to fix them pretty easily. Never had any blue light of death issues luckily. Maybe it’s because I’ve replaced the thermal paste a few times which kept it alive for longer.

Awesome videos as always. I recently found a problem with one of my gaming consoles. 6 months after its release I bought an Xbox one. I played 2-3 hours on it. After a breakup a few years back it ended up in a moving box. A week back I dug it out to test Halo infinite. The console starts but the screen is black. Tried different monitors and hdmi cables but it didn't solve the problem. Tried to hold power + eject for the factory reset but screen remains black. I can insert and eject disks and the button sounds from the console seems to be normal. Any suggestions to how I can fix it?

Service induced fault on the last one. Thats a pretty common occurrence in servicing right across the board from autos to water heaters and everything in between. There's a school of thought that says that if something is operating within tolerances you shouldn't service it.

The 1st Ps4 you fixed, the plain white one installing an update at 0:32, please tell me you updated to version 9.00 or lower. Painful to watch coz it's an old unit that probably had 5.05 installed, the most stable jb to date. For sheer re-sale value be updating to 5.05 whenever possible, or to 9.00 which is almost as stable as 5.05. Anyway thanks for yet another great ps4 repair vid.

Wouldn't attempting to reflow the APU be worthwhile to try? If the issue is indeed a cracked solder ball, it seems like reflowing it could work. I have had luck doing so on laptops that don't post.
