You are doing a great job and service. If I may, offer my input, don't beat yourself up. Long time ago I learned not to argue with an idiot - they will drag you down to their level and beat you up with years of experience. You apologized for a word choice (unfortunate), that's it, move on. Those of us who love meteorology get it. You briefed much tougher crowds USAF USN aircrew, I know, I am a retired USAF pilot.

You make an incredibly valid point, and I need to keep a notation like this at my desk. You’re entirely correct, I’ve been in front of pretty tough crowds over the years. Seasoned veterans in uniform, for in person forecasts/brief’s. Thank you for the words of encouragement

Thanks Naz! I get your unfortunate comment. I find the power of mother nature exciting watching hurricanes are fun and so is experiencing them. My question is how rare is it that two hurricanes made landfall in the same place two years in a row?
@WxCenterNazario
@WxCenterNazario Ай бұрын
Not entirely rare, but uncommon to an extent. If the pattern recurs year to year, it's very doable. A lot of it is a game of timing. In this case, we had a very similar upper air pattern over the eastern half of the US and the western Atlantic that allowed our initially dry wave to move into a favorable area, develop, and pass up our west coast. A combo of troughing, a cold front, high pressure on either side, and the storms overall structure in itself. Great question

Pretty windy night here, lost power for about 4 hours but it is back on. About 8" of rain the past 2 days though.

Glad you've gotten power back, and for leaving this comment. Rainfall totals should slowly back off for a lot of us in central Florida. Sun has been shining in my area for a couple hours now, hopefully to help rid us of much of the standing water.

Down southwest nearest to Sarasota is where a LOT of the rainfall has seriously piled up. I'd absolutely heed the warnings and try to stay off the roads. Thankfully this afternoon conditions are clearing for many in central Florida

Hello, I am not sure if you will see this or not but I was doing some reading on my hometown in Florida and it mentioned Tropical Storm Debby in 2012 that hit the exact same area of Florida that the current Debby hit and caused large amounts of rain and flooding. I found it very interesting the similarities between the 2 same named storms hitting just a month and a half apart 12 years later. I apologize if I am giving you information you already knew. I hadn't heard you or anyone else mention it in the live streams and thought you might find it interesting like I did. Thank you so very much for all of your hard work not only in front of the camera but behind the scenes as well, know that people like me appreciate it very much. During this current Debby, I decided to check out a few other streaming sites about the storm including a very popular non meteorologist located here in Florida who is well known for his weather page and I just could not watch them. I have become very accustomed to the professional yet friendly and concise way you speak that the only other channel I watch besides yours is the NHS youtube advisories at 11 and 5 :)

I did stumble across some historical info on the previous Tropical Storm Debby that came up through the Big Bend area. Shorter track history in the Gulf of Mexico but I'd imagine a very similar pattern was likely in place driving the system east northeast versus the traditional westward path. An excellent catch! It looks like this version of Debby likely won't be retired and we'll see the name come around again in a few years. I'm also very happy to hear how accustomed you are to watching our channel, that means a lot! I'm also glad my style of content resonates with you enough to keep you intrigued and watching every time we're active!

@@WxCenterNazario Yes, it hit Steinhatchee, Fl and in parts of Florida it dumped 28 inches of rain. As I mentioned I found it very interesting though not exactly the same as it was tracked to hit La area but made a sudden course change to the same area that the current Debby hit and though the large rainfall was in Florida the rainfall amounts are again similar though affecting different areas. And yes we will see her back in 6 years when the names cycle through again. This year it is minus Florence and Michael, another interesting thing I noticed about the 2012 season looking at it was there was a total of 8 named storms in August. Sometimes, multiple storms going at the same time. I sure hope we don't have that scenario this year, I can't imagine how much time and effort you would have to spend tracking them all like that. Thank you for replying to my comment. I appreciate you taking time out of your day to reply, believe it or not that is another thing that makes you special to your community of viewers, your personal connection to all of us. With everything you have been saying about August being busy, I thought you might be interested in looking at the 2012 season and also looking at the rainfall similarities in Debby and the landfall area. Have a great rest of your day.

I actually really love everything about this channel. I'm very paranoid about the weather, and recent storms (say within the last couple of years) devastated me in a variety of ways. The calm, assertive, no-nonsense, and even humorous manner in which you present this information has been extremely valuable to me, and I've become something of a (very green) weather nerd in part bc of this channel. Thanks for that; there are other channels on this platform that go out of their way to fear monger, click-bait, and exploit people's psychological trauma for hits and ad revenue. It makes me sick, and I am happy to have found a channel that is both dense with high quality information *and* nothing like those people. Also have no idea who you're apologizing to or if you did (there are parts of this video that I didn't watch) as it seems like some people in the comments are discussing it, but if you were blasting click-baity assholes, good.

Saving this comment for my own reference going forward because you absolutely encapsulated every bit of why I created this channel from the jump start. I'm sorry to hear in the past, recent storms have affected you in a vastly negative way. I aspire to not only bring accuracy and reality to the table through my forecasts, but I love incorporating some humor and personality alongside the information to help alleviate the times we're discussing potentially dangerous impacts. It also helps to dispel any "boredom" we may experience when the weather is beyond quiet with nothing to really discuss. The connection it gives me with you all as part of our community is so fulfilling and motivating! I'm also grateful I could rub off a bit of my weather passion to you; being a mentor to many is also a goal I have down the road. Can't tell you how much I appreciate this comment!

Good morning! This is the morning of August 6, and unfortunately my county (Suwannee) and Lafayette County were most devastated in terms of rain received from this storm. where I am, Live Oak, received about 10 inches of total rainfall, causing an entire flash flood emergency for about 3 hours for all of Suwannee County..
@WxCenterNazario
@WxCenterNazario Ай бұрын
That's horrible to hear. Rain and flooding were the number one threats with this storm undoubtedly. Hoping we can see some relief from rainfall as we move through the next two weeks to allow some good ol' evaporation to take place. The ground and soil are probably over saturated, so any extra rain would do us no good. Please be mindful of insects and rodents displaced by the flood waters!

How is NYC looking in terms of Debby? Can the flooding equate to the historic late September flooding from the moisture associated with Ophelia?

Could see some of the heavy rainfall finally track up north especially as Debby goes non tropical and picks up the jet stream support

Yes, the Pacific North American Oscillation. One of our what's called "teleconnections" in the atmosphere. It's a huge pattern that reflects across the east Pacific through North America and influences the weather on the US east coast as well.

Was far from being cocky. If you review the chat, said individual was asking unreasonable questions and copy/pasting their comment. Their question in itself related to area of Florida unaffected by any significant weather, alongside making comments about a “category 5”. My response was completely justified, and others in the chat alongside my moderators highlighted it as well. I never retort the way I did unless it’s entirely appropriate.
