One thing to add to the guide would be how to add VoIP to your server, its super simple but requires to go sign up on Unity for auth token and also adding another .json to where the settings are.

major issue concerning password setting. unable to set my own password and am being prompted to enter one even without having one. upon trying to set my own the host settings don't honor the password I type in. is there a default password that gets set to it? very confused.

in order to play and host the server it must be on the same pc? i mean, i have a media server that can run the server, but i cant play on my main gaming pc because it says its in use elsewhere

If you've done the setup properly, you should be able to join the server from any PC with LAN/Internet access

You need to erase the line difficulty, leave only the coma at the end, and the value need to be set 2, doing this you will set brutal

I can't seem to get it to show up in game or direct connect. I have the server on a separate computer on the same network and I have all ports forwarded (double and triple checked). the server shows up on the steam server viewer. I would appreciate the help.

Can another person access the server if the one who set it up isn't playing or have his PC powered off? EDIT: I guess you answered the question few moment after I wrote this, still, did I understand well if I say the answer is no?

Servers work only when the computer that is hosting the server is running. So no, nobody will be able to join the server you host when you shut down your machine.
