Very well explained thank you. If I understand correctly, it Is the sensor (an its capacity), the single piece that dictates how much water will pass trough? Many thx

Thanks for watching. It is not the sensor that controls the volume of the flush, it is the piston. The rate of water that trickles back into the upper chamber will change how long of a flow there is.

What can be done for water hammer? I have one that causes a lond bang when the piston closes.
@AmreSupply Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Water hammer is caused by a shockwave from high pressure water which suddenly stops (when a valve closes). Loose pipes will exaggerate this effect and will create more noise. A water hammer arrestor can be placed between the supply and the flushometer to reduce the severity of the shockwave, reducing the noise. www.amresupply.com/search?q=water+hammer&categories=WaterHammerArrestors

How do you control how much water when it flushes automatically? It does not flush long enough to empty the bowl.
@AmreSupply2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Water pressure can be slightly adjusted, it can be worth opening the control stop to see if it helps. On the other hand the gpf (flush length / volume) is controlled by the piston. It is possible that the piston inside the flushometer is mismatched to the toilet.

How does the manual over ride button works? The sensor can flush automatically but the manual (push valve) wont. Any troubleshooting tip? Thanks
@AmreSupply2 жыл бұрын
Hi Joey, thanks for watching. The manual override button releases water from the upper chamber (it bypasses the sensor and solenoid). If the valve flushes normally via the sensor, but won't flush when you press the button then the button is likely faulty and is sticking or not opening properly. It's been 5 years since we've filmed this. I don't have this model in front of me but I think this button is not easily replaced on these models. We also don't sell replacement buttons so we don't have a video for the button. All American Standard Flushometer videos can be found here: kzbin.info/aero/PLCo9SMjkdWBypfd69rUJSWqCYqFVDvAzw

My plumber accidentally hooked this to the hot water line. ( on a urinal ) Could this cause any issues? It's a tiled wall and would be a pain to change it to cold side.
@AmreSupply3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Urinals and flushometers are not designed for use with hot water. Depending on how hot the water is, it could reduce the lifespan of the piston. It might also smell worse overall as the hot water will cause some odors to vaporize as it evaporates. It is unlikely to crack the urinal bowl unless the bowl is very cold before the hot water is run over it.

I have a unique problem that wasn't listed in the video. The sensor can go off but it doesn't flush and whines in its attempt, but the side button functions perfectly. I've tried changing the inlet valve flowrate, different batteries, and testing the wires and everything seems to be working fine in those regard. I was thinking I would need to change the solenoid entirely but I don't know if it would somehow be the vacuum breaker or some other easier/cheaper fix. Any help would be great, thank you! (I will comment my results in case others have this problem in the future)
@AmreSupply7 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. If the flushometer works with the manual button on the side, then it's likely an issue with the solenoid. If replacing the solenoid doesn't fix it, then it could be an issue with the sensor module.

My urinal is getting stuck when flushing with continual water causing the urinal to over flow. Would removing the manual override button and lubricating the O-rings help the manual button not stick anymore?
@AmreSupply3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Continuous flushing can be an issue with the piston, the solenoid or the manual override button. It would be good to listen for the solenoid, sometimes you can hear it click when it opens. As well make sure that the piston is functioning correctly. Check the manual first, most recommend NOT to use pipe sealant or plumbing grease on any valve component or coupling except the control stop. Alternatively if you think the override button is sticking and is causing the continuous flushing then it will likely need to be replaced as it would be sticking internally.
@machdw6506 ай бұрын
I have replaced the battery pack and tried 2 piston/solenoid assemblies and it is still letting water pass through in to the urinal without flushing.
@AmreSupply6 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. If you've replaced the battery pack, piston and solenoid then it's likely an issue with the sensor.

I have 2 selectronic toilets where it flushes manually, motion sensor works, and i hear a click inside i assume it's the solenoid, but they still don't flush automatically. They have new batteries installed.
@AmreSupply2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. It could be an issue with the piston. In these models the piston has a channel to release the water from the upper chamber. If the water doesn't release from the upper chamber then the flush will not start. Pressing the manual button should still work in this case as the water will run through a separate channel to initiate the flush. You could try cleaning this channel in the middle of the piston with a wire or try installing a new piston.

Hello, how can I solve my problem with my tape measurer model 6065121mx, it does not stop spewing water, the solenoid does not activate and the piston does not activate it - the manual button gets stuck, how do I solve it, thanks
@AmreSupply Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Sometimes minerals in the water can build up and cover the inside of the valve. This can prevent the flushometer from working properly. If you take apart the flushometer and give it a good clean, that can sometimes help. If not then a new piston or solenoid might be needed.
@bobforpples8 ай бұрын
The toilet seems to flush only halfway when sensor is activated after changing vacuum breaker. With override button it flushes fine. Any ideas?
@AmreSupply8 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. Since it flushes properly with the override button, it means that it is able to let all the water from the upper chamber out in that case. Perhaps check how the solenoid is seated to make sure there is nothing preventing it from opening up properly.

Having issues with the one we have at work, everything works as it should EXCEPT when it flushes, I can still hear water running and when you fiddle with the button it suddenly starts flushing none stop and I’m not sure what else I can replace, it’s practically a brand new unit
@AmreSupply Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Does it stop flushing when it runs in the automatic mode or only when you press the manual bypass button? If it only happens when you press the button, then it likely isn't closing properly and is letting a small amount of water through, preventing the upper chamber from filling with water, and pushing the piston onto the valve.

What could be the cause for a sink where I replaced the most parts but still no water coming from the sink please thanks (American standards)
@AmreSupply2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. For a Selectronic faucet to work the battery(or the AC power supply) must be good, and the sensor needs to functioning correctly. The faucet will use a solenoid valve. This can fail electronically or mechanically. You can look up a parts breakdown using your model number to get a more detailed view of the parts inside of the faucet. There is some variation between models.

@AmreSupply4 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul thanks for watching! The override button can be removed and replaced if needed. www.amresupply.com/part/M950354-0020A-AmericanStandard-Flushvalve-override-button There should be a retaining clip that you'll have to pull off first before removing the button. Lubricating the o-rings might help if water is leaking through the override button. If not a new button, or new o-rings might be needed.

Nope. Crap design. You can cut the end off the center pin with a grinder, but it will no longer function manually.

Vance, toilet flushes fine, automatically, but push button override gets stuck and toilet runs continually. I suspect the o-rings are hanging up; can I lubricate with a silicone paste? This toilet doesn't get much use over the course of a year's time; if anything it suffers from lack-of-use!
@AmreSupply3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Yes a silicone based plumbers grease can be used on the o-rings to prevent them from sticking. Silicone is best rather than something like vaseline. Vaseline is petroleum based and can cause the o-rings to deteriorate.

I've got continual flush after replacing solenoid. Before replacement it was only flushing manually and light was flashing but no solenoid clicking.
@AmreSupply6 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim, it sounds like the piston could have shifted during your solenoid replacement. There is a little spring inside the piston, which is used for self cleaning of the bypass hole to let water into the upper chamber. Check to see if the spring is still there and if the bypass hole is clogged.
@russbell64182 жыл бұрын
Also often cause by stuck manual pushbutton. They are not repairable. Compare the exterior of the pushbutton to another valve, or see if the center pin on the inside (about 5/16 diameter) is sticking out past the main brass pin of the push button.

Hi Orin, Its best to check the Selectronic manual for the recommended pressure for your specific model. As for the flow rate: There are flow meters that can measure the flow rate at a given fixture but that won't reflect the flow rate capacity of the whole system.
