*Used to supplement the up stairs when it gets hot outside this works very well and **Fastly.Cool** Also works good when the upstairs gets too hot in the Winter from the heater.*

Had a TAM7 with the 10 red flash (superheat) fault. Great video! Read a interesting article suggesting the "SH" fault can sometimes be due to a dirty filter or evap coil.

Honestly I can't find any literature for trane. It is driving me nuts. They tell me to go online but all I find online is installation manuals.

Great video. I was working on one today. What are those round things you're using to read pressure?

How much energy does an eev save you vs the replacement and service calls to fix it?
@mrgreen90863 ай бұрын
Worked on of these the day Had 3 green flashes (stage 2 cooling) and 7 red flashes (high superheat) put a jumper on open and test and pressures did not change. Going to be replacing the exv 😅

Do you have the E-manual for the control board and electronic tapper motor ..??

I have the same unit. Getting 6 green and 4 red flashes while cooling. Any idea?

Thanks for the video. Do you know what 7 red fault flashes mean on that EEV control board?

I'm curious, where did you find the leak? Did you ever go back for that?
@joeschneider674 жыл бұрын
No way that EEV and circuit board fail at same time. That's easy fix by replacing everything. Am sure the problem was the EEV...more likely, if that unit has air flow problems ( low air flow ), the valve will be working hard to maintain refrigerant flow till collapse. I have see that issue very often.

That stepper motor tho, dip switches trane famous for those, program to the air handler type, weeeee, lol!!
@Chris-zo9yy4 жыл бұрын
I’m just wondering but if you couldn’t jump out the stepper motor and then determined the step motors resistance was off point, what led you to condemn the board? You shouldn’t be able to jump out a bad motor.

If you ohm it out and it ohms bad, it's a bad step motor in my experience.

I actually really like eev's.... for refrigeration, not for a/c. I mean if you already have an automation system I figure why not, but for one split system it seems like overkill.
@zacktalksshopbside8 жыл бұрын
I don't see too many problems with them either. Just a little overkill like you said.

How did you fit your meter leads in there to test the stepper motor? Mine wont fit
@amann9104 жыл бұрын
you can use small piece of thermostat wire in a pinch or get back probe kit for your leads

Electronic expansion valve? Is that shit really necessary? I'm sure the salesman who sold that system talked about all the "benefits" of the Trane system. What I'm sure he did not mention is that the cost of repairing the system negates the energy savings. I would never recommend this type of system.
@zacktalksshopbside8 жыл бұрын
It does not appear it was needed. I don't really do these type either.

Jim D they are kind of in the new inverter technology
@jonathanhale83883 жыл бұрын
They're great for efficiency. They're really not bad to diagnose or work on. The motor can fail but the valve itself is rated for practically the life of the unit. EEV and ECM all the way!

Sssooo the bottom line here is you misdiagnosed it. You blamed it on Trane EEV and control board ?? When you first check the standing pressure 50 psi didn't ring a bell ? When you test run in cooling mode (3:32) the highside pressure only 214 psi for a r410a system did not ring a bell ? and You blamed it on EEV and control board ? have ever heard of low charge? I know a heat pump equipped with EEV is not popular and not easy to diagnose it but atleast when you look at the gauge The high side pressure only214 psi did not tell you anything?? If you suspect a bad EEV (not open,stuck closed) then when you run the cooling mode the high side pressure should be MUCH HIGHER not 214 psi as shown in your video.
@adamcraig15683 жыл бұрын
So before you attack Zack know your shit. System was running 100/300 in heating mode which in NC is very possible. In cooling mode we could obviously see a restriction. If your running cool mode in winter (November) than obviously in cooling your head pressure will be that low. Come on man. Hvac 101
