A group of my friends and I meet every year at Montauk for a week of camping fishing and acting like children. This video focuses on the fishing part of our trip. Hope you enjoy.

This sure makes me miss the days of fishing at the head of the White River at Bull Shoals Arkansas. It is awesome there! You can fish the river right below the dam and then go directly over to Bull shoals lake in Lakeview Arkansas. Trout fishing extraordinaire! The brown trout are awesome in the White River and the rainbows and bass, drum and even catfish are awesome in Bull Shoals lake. 🙂

What color salmon eggs were you using?
@reliablyrandomoutdoors

I was using Siberian brand night crawler eggs, but anything orange or dark red works well in my experience. They sell different brands at the lodge like balls of fire. I have use those in the past with great success as well

I know that park like the back of my hand and recognize every place in the video. I've been a trout fisherman for 45 years and prefer jig fishing because it has landed me many lunkers over the years and I wear my lunker patches with pride on my vest which pretty much covers my fishing vest. Opening day is great but when you have people standing too close to you taking up your space or constantly taking up the whole area with a fly rod it ruins it for everybody. And snaggers that are there for the sake of illegally hooking the big ones just to brag they caught it isn't fishing. Plus it's illegal but you have people that don't care and are there for just that purpose ruining the fun of others. Then you have the idiots that have no use with a fishing pole in their hands because they have no idea how to fish and are constantly fishing in the trees for squirrels or trying to hook you in their stupidity or tangling you up and are just plain dangerous to be around trying to fish. But the most annoying ones are those that come up to you and ask "Is that a trout?" after you catch one. I go every week to Montauk State Park and it never changes and it has gotten worse than ever. Leave the beer at home and the citified tweety birds can stay in the city and leave the residents alone to fish in peace. I love Missouri trout fishing but can't stand how it attracts so many nuisances to the parks and litterbugs and the foul talking drunks making a scene in public.

Hair Jigs are my preferred approach for sizeable fish in the park as well. The park is undoubtedly a social place, something I go there to appreciate with an understanding that I am fishing a few hundred feet from a fish hatchery. A great place for folks to learn to fish. nothing natural about it though. I go there to socialize and have a great time. Last year I went on a 60 mile kayak trip in which I took no food, no bait, no lighter or matches, just salt and powdered gatorade (to prevent cramps). I only ate what I foraged or caught. I spent 4 nights under the stars and I did not see a single soul the whole time I was out there. I appreciate Trout parks for what they are. Now they don't give out patches for survival trips but I recommend if you want some space from the people and actually want to challenge your abilities as a fisherman put yourself out in it and get away from the Artificial environment. In the pitch black in the middle of the night I caught a 37lb blue with no light and no one to hold a camera for me i just kissed it and let it go. That's an experience I will never forget. Patches are fun but My patches all exist in the memories only Me and the fish have. :) I probably won't make it to Missouri this year but maybe Ill see ya out there sometime. Best of luck with them Lunkers, just remember to leave some of them for the kiddos too:)

@@reliablyrandomoutdoors It's not really about being alone for me but more about respecting others and enjoying the experience of fishing with my wife without the intruding of what I call "Weekend Warriors" who have no respect for anything nature has to offer and look at you as if they own the park. That is just unacceptable to me and I give what I receive when faced with that kind of behavior. I catch and release all day long and only keep ones that range a pound and a half and up because that's my preference. I taught my wife how to fish and she loves it now and can rival any fisherman out there. But there was an incident where there was a herd of idiots drinking blatantly in the river that told her she had no place fishing there and were rude to her so she promptly reported them and the whole bunch were ejected from the park. That's the type of stupidity everyone can do without and what I won't put up with. I enjoy my trips fishing but there are those out there that deem it as a party and have no respect for anything or anyone that try to ruin it for others and litter the river banks with trash and foul language. I have taken trips down the Current River and lived off what I caught and foraged many times but I have a bad back now and can't do it anymore. Right now the river is flooded but if no more rain falls I'll be down there next week with my wife and enjoying it as always. Hope to see you down there one day!

@@metaldog38shomeofmetalnewchann Yeah the litter is my biggest irritation. There are so many illegal dump sites on isolated creeks and stream across the midwest it makes me sick. Good luck this weekend... Hope ya catch a Monster!

@@reliablyrandomoutdoors Don't know how much I will get to go fishing this year, I was deemed permanently disabled with my back today. But it sounds fun and I know my wife would like to see me do it. She has been with me and seen me catch many of my lunkers at Montauk and she is the one who fixed my patches all to my latest fishing vest. I only use jigs to fish with because it provides me with all my fish, nothing fancy and I never snag one illegally like so many do down there at that park. I'm heading down there tomorrow to fish, it has been flooded down there and rain is forecast tomorrow evening as well but I'm gonna give it a shot. I don't claim to be an expert but many people think I am lol. You can find my email on my channel here on KZbin on my About Me page if you wanna talk about a video.
