Montauk State Park Campground Tour - Park Travel Review

Montauk State Park is in south-central Missouri in Dent County. The campground at Montauk State Park has 4 loops for camping. Campsites range from basic to electric premium. Each campsite has a level parking pads, fire rings with grills, a picnic table, and a lantern post. Amenities in the campground are 2 shower houses, laundry facilities, a playground, and amphitheater, river access, and two dump stations. We camped in our 21 foot A-frame Travel Trailer on a weekend in August 2020 in an electric site on Loop 4. We were lucky enough to be able to reserve a site less that a week prior to our arrival date. That is unusual during this busy time of year. Montauk State Park is known for trout fishing. Our campground hosts were friendly and engaging at check in and made sure we had everything we needed for our weekend. This park has a recycling program and has a bag for you to use to make that easier. That was a nice touch!
From the park's website: Montauk State Park preserves a shady green retreat that offers visitors plenty of opportunities for fun, whether it is fishing, camping, hiking, picnicking or just relaxing with friends and family.
The park is located at the headwaters of the famed Current River. The park’s springs combine with tiny Pigeon Creek to supply more than 40 million gallons of water to the river each day. The cool spring water is perfect for rainbow trout and this makes the park popular with anglers.

Great vid once again. This has been a park on my bucket list for 4 or 5 years now. Really want to try out the trout fishing there. We live in west Tennessee so it's a bit of a drive.

Oh my gosh this place is beautiful! I love how much shade and how many trees there are and everything is so green! Sites look like they are a good size and love that there is a shower house. So with the electric sites is it only for RV's/trailers or are some for tents? I do love that a lot of our parks in FL have water and electric for tents as well. Really want to visit Missouri someday it looks beautiful on camera so I can't imagine how much more beautiful it is in person!

Electric sites can be reserved by tent campers. It is less common, but the people across from us during this weekend we in a tent. 😄 This Campground is really nice. And when it gets quiet, you can hear the river running.

nice campground/ sites are a little close together but that's typical for State and local Parks... nice that they have showers, State Parks often have them but National rarely. beautiful green forest, and from the description it sounds like there is a lot to do in the area // but what is a premium electric? only premium have electricity? almost sounded like basic and premium both have electric..// great video thanks for sharing!

These are tightly packed campgrounds. One of the smaller sites we’ve had in Missouri. Electric Premium is 50 amp service. Electric is 30 amp. And Basic is no electric. Great question! We are excited to show off the other parts of the park this week. It is STUNNING! You would love it!

I spotted Alf, has anyone told the trout they cannot swim in the river? Thanks Kay and Matt, I am always amazed by the space in your campgrounds they would squeeze at least 50% more sites into the equivalent on ours. That's one of the reasons we prefer not to use them.

This was a tight campground. Probably one of the smallest sites we have had this year. I think the trout are living in the water. Ha! Not swimming.

It is a big enough place to social distance. Also nice if you have a big family and want to get together.
