I've been enjoying your videos for years. Sorry to hear you've had a tough year. It takes courage to talk about personal struggles. Much respect.

Hard times is a stranger to no one. Everyone has their own struggle, and there ain't a damn thing wrong with admitting that. Thank God we have the mountains, the water, and the fish to give us peace.

Loved this style of camping by the river! 👌👌 I’ve also had a shocker this year - wife had aggressive breast cancer (youngest child was 8 months, we thought it was a milk duct) but pleased to say things are looking much rosier now after all the treatment. It meant I couldn’t do much fish camping here in the UK which is why your video was bang on - thank you for bothering! What I’ve learnt this year is: 1. Never feel sorry for yourself…as it will lead to a downwards spiral. 2. Always find something positive to take from a negative situ, and dwell on that positive thing - works wonders. 3. Doing something for others makes you feel better

You should def do more of these. Backpacking fishing down rivers is one my favorite things to do! Can only dream about all the options in NZ. At least you don't have bears and mountain lions to worry about down there....
@jayk.2276 Жыл бұрын
That’s what I think every time I watch NZ videos fishing the backcountry lol.
@GeorgeSemel Жыл бұрын
I never worried much about either bears or Mt. lions its the two legged preditors that I am more concerned with - then again most of the time I just have a much loved S+W M-29 44 mag on my person from my Alaska Bush flying days. The only issue I ever had, was with a Rattle Snake in ID. I was lucky that snake did move off and so did I. Where I was at the time, it would have been trouble if I gotten tagged.

I hope the trek and fishing was healing for you . When I did a few short months of fly fishing in the north island last year it was about helping me over some hard times . The intense focus of fly fishing was a key part of it and coupled with the beauty of the rivers made good medicine .

Do what you want to do Gareth, but I really enjoyed this one. I could tell once the fire was going and cracking a can you were really enjoying yourself. Not much to attack you in NZ compared to here in Australia. I hope that you get into camping for your own sake as you know the high you felt doing it. As for the fishing the two complement each other. As I said do what makes YOU Happy. Cheers, Pete
