TROVA is a music-documentary project that focuses on a Cuban singer-songwriter movement called ‘La Trova’.
When I first visited Cuba I immediately felt a strong affinity with the island and its people, a mutual love for music and songs drew an instant bond with the locals who welcomed me as one of their own.
It was after I happened upon a group of locals in Cuba getting together to enjoy each other's company, sing songs, and have lively that the idea came to make a documentary about Cuba's amazing musical heritage. It was an evening of pure magic. I enjoyed similar scenes in my teens in Italy and they are moments that I miss not only for nostalgic reasons but also for their community values."
I had the pleasure of interviewing some of the most influential and inspiring singer-songwriters of the last 50 years.
The documentary is near to completion, as soon as the Covid 19 restrictions will be lifted I will let you know when the full documentary (60 min) will be released.

"I have been a fan of Antonio’s music since I first heard him in the 80s. Since then I have happily championed his music on the radio and promoted concerts featuring his captivating playing in venues large and small.
His virtuoso musical ability coupled with an openness to entertain makes him the perfect musical ambassador. Now he has introduced me to the uniquely Cuban musical form, Trova. This makes me want to listen and investigate further. and maybe buy a plane ticket.
Everybody knows the world needs biodiversity but we need musical diversity too! In this film Antonio adds to the musical health of our planet. Long live his wonderful enthusiasm for real organic music produced by a musician who makes music for no other reason than they just love to do it. I revel in the passion and vision of the splendid Antonio Forcione.”
