love a bit of kitbashing, I'm allergic to green stuff and miliput so I tend to lean more towards repurposing bits than sculpting (although I still use green stuff as I have less of a reaction to it, and I know roughly how much I can use before risking my head swelling up like a balloon) I like the addition of the hair for comedy value, in a way it kinda makes it scarier.

Lol I'm allergic to pewter so I sort of get your pain with the hobby. Lucky for me pewter has been essentially phased out but oh man did I used to struggle
@nekrataali2 жыл бұрын
Is it the odor? You can wear nitrile gloves if it's a contact issue with skin. You can even double up on nitrile and wear two or three pairs if it's serious enough. You just have to use a lot of lubricant (water-based is probably the best with nitrile, but I think petrol jelly would work, too) to prevent the gloves from tearing due to the stickiness of the putty. If you get a bowl of water, you can mix the greenstuff underwater. Milliput is tricky because it's water-soluble, so you'll waste material if you knead it underwater. I'll use vinyl gloves like this when handling acetone. Vinyl is cheaper, but it's not as form-fitting, which isn't ideal when you're trying to sculpt.
@tabletop-mini-showcase2 жыл бұрын
@@nekrataali I dunno what it is that causes it but I've litterally worn the type of gloves you use for washing the pots (big thick rubber ones) and still had reactions, I think it's the oils in them because I have some really old green stuff thats quite dried out and that doesn't affect me as bad. I can't wear gloves and sculpt because it just messes me up, I need the tactile response from my finger tips and gloves just make it to difficult. I can get by using small amounts of green stuff at a time, but miliput is far more severe of a reaction, it's straight to A&E if I touch that stuff, way to dangerous for me to try anything in case it doesn't work.
@tabletop-mini-showcase2 жыл бұрын

It looks like Super-Fine White Milliput. Learning to sculpt using putty like this is great because you can start small. A bit of fur here, some rocks there, etc. If you want something really forgiving, try polymer clay. FIMO professional is really nice. The downside is you need oil-based product (such as petroleum jelly) as lubricant since you can't use water and you have to make armatures with greenstuff over wire. Basically, you make a skeleton of the thing you want to sculpt in wire, cover it with a really thin layer of pure greenstuff, then put a thin layer of polymer clay covering this before the greenstuff cures. Polymer clay needs to be baked in an oven, so after you let it sit for ~12 hours, the clay will have fused with the putty, but will still be malleable. You have to do this to prevent the clay from shifting when you sculpt. Polymer will only stick to itself once baked, but you can sculpt something, bake it as a "save point," then add more clay to keep working. Otherwise, it will be sculpt-able for years, allowing you to make mistakes but easily fix them. You can practice making more complex sculptures like heads, hands, guns, or even entire models. Regular two-part epoxy putties and super glue can be used on polymer once it's been baked, so you can attach things to your minis. Just remember super glue, acrylic paint, and plastic can't go in the oven 😂 Tom Mason and "The Mini Sculpting Super Show" has the best tutorials anywhere on KZbin. I'd recommend checking him out for topics Trovarion doesn't cover.

But because it is so good looking, I feel that one tiny tidbit stands more out to me; You said you wanted the skeleton to look older, and hey, it does! But if the skeleton is that old that it has decoloured like it has, would the skin then still be attached like it is? And if yes, would it still be that vibrant/"fresh" in colour? It's just a thought on my part, that moreso "annoys" me than anything, but it was just a thought. Again, 11/10, would get stabbed again.
