As someone who got back into WH40K after a 20 year hiatus (sobriety) I was shocked to learn I needed to follow the instructions to build a unit of Hearthkyn warriors otherwise things wouldn't go together properly. Very little pose freedom.

Seems like I'm an a oddity in finding blues and greens to be calming and relaxing, and reds and oranges (especially desaturated ones) to be dirty and frustrating.

It's always been like that. Back in 5th I would always buy a few kits from fantasy to make my 40k stuff look unique and interesting. It's Good marketing, plus encouraging to creativity.

While I absolutely loved the mirrored entry and I think the painting is just as fantastic as the execution, it's going to be very hard to compete with 3D printers for people entering the hobby, and reduces the focus on the painting. If you want to do 3D printing, that should probably be a different category altogether.

While I do love it, would this be tournament ready/3 colors? Or does the base color count?

When you finally landed on using the sponge for the initial black application, how thin was the black? Was it typical for, like, a base coat, or was it closer to a wash?

Tip from car painting. When masking: after taping base it again with the color you are painting over so any bleed through is filled in then apply your new color.

Whenever you paint a section at the beginning I’m telling myself “oh I could paint like that, that seems easy” then halfway through I find myself saying “How the hell did he get it to look that good??” Just wow. You are VERY talented. BTW this paint set seems perfect for models from the Trench Crusade game, you should do some of those!

So much crying here about „can’t afford an airbrush“ and thousand reasons for it. There are portable airbrushes on Amazon for 50-70$. And yes, they are perfectly suitable for miniature painting. Instead of buying a new kit of plastic for the pile of shame, buy a tool that will dramatically improve your painting results … Great content Trovarion, keep it up ! 👏🏼

Beeswax also works as well to keep the brush good, that's what I use

Couldn’t agree more. As a hobbyist of over 36 years experience, the amount of build and cleaning time has imcreaswd significantly! I miss the amount of kit bashing and conversion work I used to be able to do to make an army truly unique and mine. Also they are a pain to go and take to a gaming club or tournament. Too many small thin parts that easily break. Yes the models are incredibly beautiful but I think games workshop have lost sight of the fact that people will want to game with these models and nothing worse than a broken model you spent a lot of time on due to transporting it around
