To you confused folks, this was at the game awards. H.Ford was so amazed by Troy Baker for "imitating" his voice in the game. Well, I mean Troy even voicing young Joker in Arkham Origins, even Mark Hamill himself said he can't tell the difference between his and Troy's.

Him choosing to focus more on the character's mannerisms and tone rather than purely on doing an impression of Ford was definitely a good move. Even when the impression slips he still sounds like Indiana Jones. The yelling lines are definitely the most glaring points where he just stops sounding like Ford at all yet the tone and delivery are still perfect.

I disagree actually. On the yelling part. I've played about 6 hours so far and every time he yells or speaks loudly it's very close to HF - but in some of the softer moments of dialogue, you can tell it's Baker. Some of his natural voice slips in a bit, but it's still a damn good impression. BTW that's also consistent with most impressions - usually easier to maintain at louder volumes when there is less nuance in the voice. When you slow things down and get quieter, it's much harder to nail. Overall Baker has done an outstanding job though. I'm continually impressed. And like you said, he does absolutely nail his mannerisms and way of speaking - which I will agree, it's arguably more important to nailing an Indy impression than just the vocal tones.

Happy they got Troy to act as Indy. He truly captured Indy’s spirit and the way Harrison played him. At times, you forget you’re not watching Harrison as Indy, but Troy. Especially when he talks about his interest in archeology, damn near Harrison. The awe and wonder!

@@Athyxion He’s not exactly 1:1 in looks, sure, but it’s damn close. They modified the face a bit, so it also translates well with Troy’s facial capture. But there are many cutscenes where it looks near exact like Harrison. Performance wise, he nailed the spirit of Indy. Troy isn’t using Harrison’s face as a cover up for his performance, he did a phenomenal job and held his own.

There's a part in the game where Indy falls through a stone door that collapses and lands in some water. The way Troy delivers those exasperated, gruff lines of dialogue sounds so, SO close to Harrison. It's amazing how well Troy Baker did with this role.

So many of y’all complaining that Troy Baker didn’t produce a straight up 1:1 vocal copy of Harrison Ford when in all truth, that’s not the priority for bringing accuracy to the character. The fact Troy even comes as close as he does is wild, considering he’s matching inflections and tones damn near perfectly. Everything about this is like it was written in a different universe. I basically see nobody complaining. He obviously did copy the performance, and he sounds almost exactly like him anyway. Maybe it's different in the actual game, I haven't played it. On the other hand I haven't really watched Indiana Jones either. So I'm going based solely on these scene comparisons that are right in front of me. From one clip to another it literally sounds like a difference in audio quality, not a different actor.

@@futurestoryteller The vocal fry is different. Ford has slightly more gravel in his voice. It's not the audio itself. Not that I'm complaining at all. I think it's a great match. I can just hear the difference if I'm paying attention. It's slight, but it's there. That's what happens when you have someone different do a role.

It's inevitable, it will be the standard moving forward. you'll have voice actors taking direction for speech patterns and nuance and passing their physical voice acting performance through an AI voice filter and come out the other end sounding like Harrison Ford.

The only thing that throws me a little isn't the voice (kudos Troy Baker, you got it) but the appearance. It's like the face is a blend between the data they got from Troy's mocap and Harrison that didn't quite get there. I see Bradley Cooper more than Harrison Ford.

Troy Baker absolutely KILLED IT in this game. Ofc the voice isn't perfectly spot-on, but that didn't bother me. He was hired to play Indiana Jones and he did so splendidly. I believed him as the character and started seeing Indy instead of someone doing a Ford impression within the introduction of the game. I also think that there's a bit of a difference on account of the quality of the audio equipment that was used to record dialogue in the original movie vs. this modern game.

He's an extremely talented voice actor. Then, he's naturally close to Ford in voice also. It helps with the Indiana Jones characterization. Even Ford now, doesn't sound exactly as he did in the early 1980's, he's aged a bit.
