Troy Bilt Snow Blower Won't Drive

Fixing a Troy-Bilt snow blower that would not drive. Luckily it was just the key way that fell out. After reinstalling the key way the drive is now working.

My Dad decided to help me dismantle my Troybilt blower, and he lost the snap ring. He bought a key for the keyway in the drive gear, but he said the snap ring went "Thattaway" and I'm expected to find it in our messy garage. "Finding it is cheaper than buying it!" he says. But buying at our local ACE Hardware is faster because snow will eventually get here.

Do you have to drain the gas and oil before you tilt it up? If yes, is there anything else you need to drain or do?

No. Let it sit flat for few minutes after tilting it up before starting it.

You pulled the rim off of the axle , but did not lube the axle when you put it back together . I think you should know better than to do this because it may come back to haunt you in the future .

Chris in your experience how quickly does the axle and rim rust together in your area? Here in Colorado it is so dry that I rarely come across this issue. I only have once and the machine lived most of its life in NY.

How is it, TroyBilt, that I pull up this video trying to troubleshoot my machine, and stop halfway through thinking "Naw, that'd be ridiculous if it was just a Woodruff Key out of place, BECAUSE YOU GOT IT HELD IN PLACE WITH RETENTION CLIP", and then find it's EXACTLY what's wrong with mine. Maybe something to do with the fact that they don't even use retention clips anymore? Lol. Seriosly, just a loose washer up against it guys?

Yeah they could do something to make it so it does not come out.
