One thing I definitely do admire about Troy's playing is that despite being obviously very technically advanced, his chops are very tasteful. Never feels like overplaying, regardless of the type of song. Just pay attention to the very little and subtle things he adds over this cover playthrough.
@MassholeDrums2 ай бұрын
it's funny because I watched Matt Gartska's playthrough and it sounded like he was overplaying to me while Troy's just sounds really good.
@c.l.368 Жыл бұрын
He's got the most fluid technique I've ever seen, I swear no one moves like him, not even the GOATs, I could watch him play without sound for hours, that moeller technique on the left hand is so graceful it's insane, he's even opening his hand before he strikes when he hits from high up, that's how relaxed his hand is

I saw this guy yesterday at Sub89 in Reading, UK playing with Plini and some of the other guys from INTERVALS, he gave me his broken stick at the end of his set, met him after the show, not only is he the best drummer I'll ever see live but one of the most humble and down to earth people I've ever met. One of the best nights of my life

As if playing AAL wasn't hard enough, you add a polyrhythmic beat on top. That right there, is talent.

+Titouan Pierce he actually has a video of him doing a polyrhythmic groove on top of this groove. you should check it out. it's mind blowing.

I've watched this so many times.. so. many. times.. I'll probably watch it a bunch more. On top of ridiculous technical ability, amazing feel, and every other thing. He hits his drums like they owe him money. Everything is so amazingly deliberate.

Theres some drummers that are just enjoyable to watch. The music and rhythm seem to flow. There's something so satisfying about the long powerful strokes (pun definitely not intended) that make it seem like these songs are actually easy to play. Some drummers may be incredibly talented and technical, but they look almost uncomfortable while they play, like they can barely keep up.
