Ben fighting with that door handle for 1 hour and gave up. Didn't think to remove or losses the latch. Replaced another took a hour or so it was really frustrating. We ended up having to swap a window motor out to another door ground off the rivets and just used some nuts and bolts tried them down with a grinder. Thanks for the videos...little help with extra ideas or set of eyes.

Thanks for the thorough video. I replaced both the inside and outside door pulls. I managed to not have to grind out rivets and remove the window mechanism by loosing everything and using a short 2x4 to hold the panel open enough to take out internal screw on outside handle. I liked seeing the full process, though, to help think through my options.

Is there a reason you had the lock mechanism one way when you installed back into the door but was a different way when you tried to attach the rod?

HOLY MOLY all this just to replace an EXTERIOR door handle? You're telling me there's NO WAY to just pop that sucker in from the outside?

There is. Do what is shown up through @2:12, then jump to @6:48 to @7:00. Unbolt the handle (there's a hole in the door panel that allows access to the inner of the two small bolts- may be taped over). Working from the outside, slip the handle out to where you can pop the lock cylinder free, release the actuating rod and then completely remove the old handle. Reverse the proces to reassemble. The hardest part is threading the the inside mounting bolt back into the new handle, the access hole is just a bit out of line.

I have a 93 Chevy 1500, is it necessary to remove the door latch and disconnect the windows regulator to replace the exterior door handle?

Na just loosen the 3 screws on door latch where it locks and you will be able to put handle in 🖕
