If they are riveted... just buy a whole new arm and save you the trouble. Only another $50. That way you have new bushings at the frame too pre-pressed and the ball joints installed

Great tip about installing the bolts upward! Going to attempt this procedure tomorrow 😅. Fingers crossed it goes as smoothly as this. Everything is still riveted and I just bought the angle grinder for this project

Pro tip just but whole new arms with ball joints pre installed. It turns this into a three bolt/nut procedure and really doesn't cost that much more. Also you don't actually have to remove the caliper, it does give more space and makes the knuckle lighter but isn't necessary. I haven't had to but at most you could just take out the line support bracket bolt to give the line more room to move but hasn't been a issue for me.

I'm attempting to replace my upper control arm on my 2002 Dodge Dakota. I accidentally pushed the cover on the ball joint up to where its displaced. Is there anyone who can tell me how to get that back down and put that clamp back on.
