Keep in mind that shortwave listening conditions are poor right now and will be for the next several years (11 year cycle). On the other hand, conditions can change at any moment. Best of luck and keep us posted.

Yes tom i have the same problem with my icom ic706 mk 2 and about 5 other short wave receivers funny thing is if i drive about a mile from thw qth the dam noise goes, i have noticed a new communications antenna system has been installed on the roof of our local telephone exchange approx quarter of a mile from the qth as to if that is creating the noise i need to do some tests with my yupiteru mvt 7100 but im very badly disabled tom and find it very difficult to walk these days other wise i think i would have found the point of this bloody noise, it might take me forever but i shall resolve this, and thank you for your interesting youtube content. 73

Hi tom yes im using high grade coax from the tuner up to the connect on the ladder line on the g5rv as my shack is also ham i have a good seperate ground for the station, i have spent months attempting to lower my band qrm mostly affects 40 mtrs and other parts of the hf spectrum, with s 9++ digital noise. I have disconected my house mains 240 volts ac over in the uk, and run the 750 on internal batteries but the noise is still there i have found since posting that the qrm is not mains born, it seems to be picked up by the antenna i have even tried a braid braker on the coax line but that does nothing to reduce the dam noise by the way my uk ham callsign is MW6ZAN. Thanks for posting your very interesting uploads tom best 73 da de da

Interesting. Do you have the same problem with other radios? Have you tried taking the 750 into a park or woods?
@spresc218011 жыл бұрын
I am most likely going to purchase the 750 based on pretty much rock solid reviews. I currently use a 60' longwire antenna & am interested in the type of antenna you are using on your 750.

Im using a satellite 750 eaton here in the uk antenna is a short size g5rv feed into a mfj versa tuner reception on the eaton is very good but digital qrm is creating major problems across the whole of the hf bands, thanks for the uploac very good video.
@hamrad887 жыл бұрын
I am surprised you are having problems with QRM with your setup. I assume you are using shielded coax cable as the lead-in and your antenna is not near power lines. I have very little QRM on my 750 with G5RV in my office which has tons of electronics including 15 computers (at least 5 on all the time), routers, lights, etc. On the other hand, if I do not use good shielded coax cable the QRM is really bad.

Based on rock solid reviews I am pretty much sold on acquiring the 750. I currently have 3 SW radios & use a 60'longwire ant. I am curious what type antenna you use with your 750?
@hamrad8811 жыл бұрын
I am using a G5RV antenna. It's at least 20 years old so it could have reduced performance. Tom
@anthonygallo35766 жыл бұрын
Just picked up the 750.your vid taught me alot.clearly you are using some type of external antennas,i see the connection in the vid.can yiu please tell me what antenna to pick up to increase range.thanks ,Tony
@hamrad886 жыл бұрын
On this radio I am using a G5RV antenna but any outside antenna will help. See my other shows where I use other antennas, some a simple as a long wire. The key is to use shielded coax cable to bring the signal from the antenna to the radio.

Tom im house bound with hip and knee joint problems not able to walk very far, we call it being disabled in the uk. I think the american term used is handicapped for people with physical disability problems.

It sounds like you were receiving Radio Havana Cuba earlier-they are prevalent on the SW bands to say the least-listen to them mostly to hear DXer's unlimited.

What kind of notch filter do you use (brand). I just picked up a DSP unit that Radio Shack made in the 90s, works good. I need to get my longwire up ASAP.

when i ordered the 750 Tom, i noticed the NOAA weather band (162.4mhz) was not listed in the coverage frequencies .. however, when i watched one particular youtube vid, the person had a 1700 freq. on the screen and i heard NOAA weather radio .. what am i missing here? .. is NOAA coverage possible?
@hamrad887 жыл бұрын
No is does not tune the normal NOAA weather frequencies up at 162 MHz but there are numerous stations all over the bands that broadcast weather conditions similar to NOAA.

Tom, have you ever had a satellite 800? I have one coming and I think I will like it better than the 750 of which I used to have but it was stolen. Let me know thank you. Edwin
@hamrad8810 жыл бұрын
No I have never had a 800 but my guess and it is only a guess, is that the 750 and the 800 will be very similar. Tom
@lovelaga10 жыл бұрын
Very wrong. The. 800 is much larger and has more features. It replaced the 650 which was built in Europe. It has a 3 vice 2 position selectively switch. Production started in 2000. Enjoy viewing ur video s
@lovelaga10 жыл бұрын
They were going to replace the 800 with model 900 but then Grundig folded & Eton bought the right's to market radio under the Grundig name (made in China). I got my 800 for $351. They can cost much more; I bartered on the price. Edwin

Edwin Thoma I almost snagged on for $100 here locally that was in mint condition but I did not see the ad until it was about a day old. The really sad part about it was it was sold by someone I knew! :(

good radio but the AC power supply is of poor quality with a lot of 60Hz noise.

@bobnog8 жыл бұрын
+The King's Servant The radio is very good. The FM sound is good for music also. My only complaint is about the AC power supply wich generates some 60Hz hum.

Why are these radios so expensive, and are they really worth it?
@hamrad884 жыл бұрын
They are in high demand because they are great radios. Some of the prices are way too high. I would not pay more than $250 for a used one in perfect condition.
