I'm really glad you took your preparation seriously. As an Aussie I've encountered too many tourists who think they can just go on a road trip through the outback without any background research, and they usually end up in a really serious situation.

As a person who actually lives remotely and does this all the time. You sound like a massive sissy girl. The only prep you need is plenty of water and the common sense to turn around when youve drunk half of it. Ive met too many tourists who have been and done things most suburban pansies are too scared to even try. There are no lions, there is no frost bite, the locals wont kidnap you. Get out there and have fun. You dont need a 4wd, you dont need an epirb, drive your 1987 Corolla, or your 600,000km kia pregio, it really isnt that serious. Give it a try. And if your car breaks down therell be someone along to help in 20min for most places. Or maybe 2 days if youve actually gone remote.

@@mabamabam Mate I'm in the outback all the time, that doesn't change the fact that I met a tourist who landed in Sydney and thought it was a good idea to go on a "road trip" to Uluru with a hire car that very same day. 20 minutes? Lmao, you sound like a sissy boy who's never actually been remote ever. I go places that people don't visit for weeks, if not months. Some of the sites I go to I'm the first person to go there in 6 months.

I volunteered at the Brisbane Children’s Hospital for a couple of years. Had our car stolen during that time. The police said people steal vehicles to joy ride. They drive them as far as possible then burn them out. This was 25 years ago so I don’t know if that is still happening. I used to travel a lot for work in my early 20s and after the pandemic I have extreme social anxiety and am having a hard time getting back out there…your videos truly help seeing how good the world and people can be and you make travelling look fun, even though I know there are tough times! You talk like extreme social anxiety is a bad thing. I'm 57 and I guess I've probably had it my entire life, but never hated it. If I have to go be around people, I go, I do whatever, visit with a couple family members, and go home... The only thing I dislike about it is the dread the day of me going wherever. I actually enjoy it after I get there, but I could easily become a hermit. My goal is to eventually have a big enough garden to grow and can my own food, of course I'll have to find someone to bring me my large monthly supply of Dt Dr Pepper & dog food then 6 months supply of ibuprofen, shampoo , soap, laundry soap and toilet paper. That's all I really need, I can make the rest of my food and whatever else I need.

@@TurkeyCreekGal I'm glad that you are able to push through it, I'm 54 and any form of anxiety can be CRIPLING....and to not acknowledge that takes validation from those who are losing the battle. I too HATE the lead up to an event, but IF I AM ABLE to push through it I can usually quite enjoy myself. Yet there are times when the fight is too hard and I end up backing out. I HATE my anxiety with a passion because of the life it has either robbed me of or makes me fight for. I shouldn't have to fight myself to have a good time :'(

My parents drove myself and two siblings to Uluru from Adelaide back in the mid 80’s. Back then you were able to climb Uluru. The whole journey was such an amazing experience. As we were climbing us kids started complaining about how hot it was and how we wanted something to cool down. My dad kept us going by telling us there’s a kiosk at the top and that we’d get an ice cream when we got there.

"The end?" Had me laughing at the end, haha. I love how you guys make it a point to do hard and remote things before letting yourself have anything fancy. I think that is part of the reason you are able to stay so humble. I do miss the slowness that the videos used to have, though. You are always on the move so quickly that it sometimes feels like we didn't get to see it all. I would have loved to see more of the drone show as well as some of the walk and views around Uluru! I suppose it's like seeing the great pyramids or the Eiffel tower, but it's not man made, so it's even more impressive as this incredible wonder of nature. I live in the outback and believe me, some of those cars have been there for over 50 years!! When my dad was a kid his dad got in a accident where he swerved off the road, and his car is still there! (and that was in 1967!)

a tip with those gas stoves if the flame dies down in cold weather, ie. cold mornings, take the gas cartridge out and warm it up under your arm pit, if you have a spare gas cylinder use that while you warm up the other one, your water will boil much quicker.... for a bush toilet we get a milk crate flip it upside down and cut a hole in the base, then get a cheap toilet seat from a hardware shop and tape the seat on, you can cable tie the seat on but tape is more comfortable to sit on, saves the legs when squatting ... :) dingoes are very cunning and difficult to find... living in South Australia and getting out into the country I've seen plenty of Emus, roos and even a dingo once, although it was a very brief encounter, I've never seen a camel but I've seen plenty of camel footprints, so there's my experience 4wding in SA, thanks for sharing, love your journey into our outback !

I've been to Uluru twice, and even climbed the Rock twice (years ago when it wasn't so discouraged by the local Anangu people). It's the most magical, spiritual place I have been to anywhere in the world. Saw an evening light show (on the ground only) but still an awesome experience out in the open. This video brought back so many wonderful memories.

The koalas on kangaroo Island are coming back after being devastated. The other fire affected ( effected, I dunno) areas are all growing back beautifully. Come on down and have a look. The way the Aussie dollar is compared to the rest of the world means no matter where you're from you will have a ball.

There are no koalas in or near the Outback, but there are great lizards which Kara and Nate missed.

Yeah... I don't know about these new glossy/cartoony thumbnails. I know this is totally subjective, but I just wanted to share my impression... It just seems less and less authentic. Honestly, I hardly recognize you in these images. I get why some people are drawn to it, but it's as if we're not getting the real you. This is not meant to be mean or negative. It's just a feeling I'm getting. I love your videos, who you are as people and your amazing energy... But I'm just noticing the shift and it feels a little out of alignment to me. Again, I know that's just one person's impression, but yeah... I just felt like I needed to share that for some reason.

I have been to Australia 2018/19 and 2020. Then pandemic hit and I couldn't go back anymore. I miss it so much and just seeing the videos and pictures makes me sooo happy. Can't wait to go back next year 😍

That was awesome once again...i was bird listening to the Morning bird chorus Day 5 when u thought a camel rubbed against the tent...the bird species i could hear was amazing...the corrugations of you bumping over those roads brought back funny memories and the FLIES ha ha...i don't miss those. I once had a fly land on my eyeball and dangle off my lashes coz i couldn't blink quick enough and swat them away in time ha ha....looking forward to the next update. Have heard good things about the train from Perth to Sydney but have never done it 🙌🏼

One of our favourite family trips was spending 3 weeks travelling from Adelaide to Darwin, around Kakadu, back to Katherine, then Alice and Uluṟu. We camped off grid 50% of the time and spent the other half in camp grounds (caravan parks/RV parks). We visited so many small communities along the way and soaked up the amazing scenery and wildlife. Our 2 boys were old enough to help set up and pack down the camper trailer and it was an bonding family experience. Kakadu, Katherine Gorge and Uluṟu were all stunning destinations. We have travelled most of Australia but have been so busy with work for the past few years that we haven’t been able to get away for more than a week. Our last big trip was 3 weeks exploring the North and South Islands of New Zealand in late 2019. We have just bought a new business, so unfortunately travel is on hold a little longer.

I did Uluru and Darwin to Adelaide via car about 20yrs ago. Uluru is amazing now as it was then, so heart warming to hear you guys relate to the sunrise and sunset that the rock provides. Incredible.

I worked at a cattle station in the Witjira National Park in S. Australia and can attest to the condition of the roads you were on were pretty standard. We had the Dalhousie Thermal Springs near us for a break but also had many tourist repairs that we helped with repairing tires especially from them crossing the Simpson Desert with a 4X4. Thanks for bringing me back to an extremely fun time in my life with these videos!

We had it easy, out tour flew into Alice Springs and took the bus to Uhuru. This was years ago, so no drones, just TONS of stars when we moved away from hostel lights. Pre draw on the bus to the sunrise at The Rock. We saw the Flying Doctors at Alice Springs and the Seven Sisters. And I'm not a vegetarian, so I've eaten kangaroo. Tastes like deer, sweeter than beef, I could eat it again. They had chicken, beef, vegetarian at the BarB, for the less adventurous. Glad you had a wonderful trip. Thanks for taking us along.

Beautiful perth. My home town. Back in the early 90's when you were allowed to climb Ayers rock (uluru). Boxing Day. 40 degs n windy. What an experience. Enjoy the Indian pacific

Looks like sunset strip and morning spot have been moved. Long, long time ago did camp trip out back, before no climbing rock. I didnt as disabled, but did circumnavigate it before road. The grass was over our heads. Oh and we didnt go into any protected area. The one rule was jump up and down every couple of yards to let the snakes know we were there. Musta worked, didnt see one.
