This video brought back so many memories of me and my dad fixing up our grain truck to haul corn and soy beans. With the roll tarp. We even broke the frame of the truck once dumping it and had the rebuild and reinforce it to handle the load. We ultimately mad a fixed door with several slide doors on the back to “ aim” into the augar for the grain silo.

I'm not sure if you did, but for the latch mechanism, it is a good idea to start welding holding "levers" to the long tube starting from the end near air brake slop adjuster, and then put quarter under previous "lever" before welding next one. This way you would use the whole tube as an improvised torsion spring and both ends will be securely shut. But again, I'm sure you already thought of that. Great video, as always. Thanks!

@Rainfall Projects, this is actually one of the exact setups that Mag Drills were designed for. I've used them thousands of times for drilling new holes in Truck Frames. If you have a good Mag Drill it will stay there in a Horizontal position with no issues. The one I am currently using is the Milwaukee M18 Cordless, and I think I could actually do chin up on it in a Horizontal Position lol. It has crazy Mag holding power. Great Video!

Mag drills are ment to be used in all positions. That's why they have the safety chain attachment incase of power loss or the magnet breaks free. Use them lots of structural steel.
@bradley35494 жыл бұрын
This one looks to have a pretty narrow base, probably would have been a lot more stable if he rotated it 90 degrees.
@deltan9ne3064 жыл бұрын
@@bradley3549 Most Hougens have a similar sized magnet. Some of the best mag drills money can buy in my opinion. Just gotta watch out with the larger drills, they require a minimum thickness of material to have enough meat to have the magnet work properly.

Just had a thought. All the rice trucks that run around near where I live have a small sliding door lowdown in the centre of the tail gate, about a 12/15 inches square. I imagine it is to allow dumping into an auger hopper or a smaller receiving system than opening the whole tailgate.

Sometimes I wish life could give you the opportunity to stick your toe into every industrial branch for a little time. I feel like most metal workers only see a small fraction of the stuff they could do with their knowledge. I'm currently working in the ship industry making the giant diesel aggregates for cruise ships, but don't have any clue on how to repair a tractor or truck engine. I'm quit happy with my current work field but sometimes I wish I had the knowledge and opportunity to work on other stuff than just ships. Switching your branch seems like risking your whole carrier. It feels like having to start from nothing again which makes me kinda sad.
@ArrakisMusicOfficial4 жыл бұрын
Well, perhaps you could try a bit here and there in your spare time. For example, buy an old wrecked tractor or a truck for cheap in the junkyard and see if you can repair it. I'm sure in principle the engines are somewhat similar even though the specific parts will look probably quite a bit different. Perhaps you could even offer a helping hand to someone who does truck repairs, offering your help for their knowledge. I'm sure there are ways for you to try different things, in my experience, if you're not afraid to ask, you can get to see and learn a lot of cool stuff :))
