Noob Trucker in the UK, bringing other new drivers the heads up on what its really like as a new driver. Milti drop and otherwise.I have been driving commercially for one year now and my vlogs are here to show you what driving a HGV the the UK is really like, I don't delete the bad bits its all raw and as it happens.
I will answer all questions as soon as I can. please not this channel is for entertainment purposes only and not to be used as a guide. I just try to show you haw it is.

hi jay the button on your steering wheel marked by a 3/4 circle with an arrow is for your set cruise speed resume after braking or exhaust brake

Jay if the return button for the cruise control is anything like the system used on the car it reengages your previously set speed, so say you are sitting at 50 and have to brake disengaging the cruise control, hit that button and it will take you back to your set speed

Hello Jay, Just subscribed a couple of days ago and enjoying your videos. Regards making mistakes and taking videos down, that's a 'fair one' if you think that someone might think it's the right way of doing things etc. It might be an idea to collate a video of any mistakes you make and explain what you did wrong and why it's wrong. Nobody is perfect and everyone makes mistakes. Too many youtubers delete content when they 'feck it up' but this gives the wrong impression and is only a 'half truth' regards their story and that is to their detriment. It's great to see a responsible professional out and about on the road and sharing your experiences etc could help prevent someone making the same or similar mistake. We can all learn off everyone else. Everyday is a learning day. Keep doing your thing!!

As a non-trucker this looks a cosy place to be! Loved the tour of the truck! Seems like you have to change lorries a bit though which must be frustrating as you can never make a cab your own. Looks like cabins have come a long way since I used to go trucking with my dad back in the 90's. His Scania had a table in the middle of the cab! What I notice is the lack of CB radio and air duster blow hose in the cab! Great vid though!

Hi Jay, I passed my class 1 when I was 21 and have to say I’ve driven Volvo’s Scania’s Merc’s etc, having said that I haven’t driven for some years now and have to say when I see the newer motors I’m quite jealous, everything looks so much better and smarter, one day maybe 10-20 years from now you might remember this Volvo your in at the time of making this video and think what a pile of shit it was compared to what ever your driving as I say 10-20 years from now.

Nice truck better spec if not better than I’ve driven and tramp in. I like volvos for the cruse and auto box, also have very nice interior. Also my other fav is Scania top lines, witch I have one for tramping. Good vid look forward for more content also drive safe. I find with tramping is to make you’re self comfortable in the cab and as you know don’t treat it as a job it is a lifestyle way of life. Maybe with the vid you mestup the trailer drop is to do a vid on how to drop and huk a trailer and use the parts of the vid show how not. Just an idea.

if you have eco on the max speed you can do is 52 mph its aim is for fuel economy and increased mileage per gallon the max i have achived is 11.8 miles per gallon

Is the speed limit 60 mph?

Yes on motorways(IIRC) but all trucks are limted to 56 mph or less (supposedly). You may get the odd truck slowly overtake you on the flat and on a rare occasion one may 'blast' past you (relatively speaking) at the speed limit(usually foreign trucks from my experience)..Driving here in Spain it's fairly common to see that but the Guarda Civil are pretty hot at stopping/harassing/dishing out fines for offenders. Foreign truckers down here get 'special treatment' and a zero tolerance on even minor indiscretions.

Its rare to get a 56 limiter these days. Normally your limited to 53mph because companies are saving millions per yer in diesel just by cutting 3mph off their fleets cruise speed. You can get 60mph downhills though especially with a decent heavy load on.

Bad Drivers of Northamptonshire if so then bad skills. Just like the dumb foreigners using the hard shoulder of the M4. The tachograph flashes when you have 15 min driving left. You shouldn't even push it that far. I am hoping I got it wrong and it's a lay by then a slip road? Sorry Jay but posting things on line you need to be 100% correct. I'm no saint when it comes to driving. But there are a lot of HGV drivers out there that are crap!(edited as I don't want anyone taking it wrong) Posting online of you doing things wrong just re enforces everyone's perception that HGV drivers are stupid and think they own the road. I am sorry to nit pic Jay. So glad you finally got on to class 1. As a fellow ex serviceman to I wish you all the best. Just don't want you getting into trouble as the videos could be undeniable evidence if anything illegal has been done. Feel free to delete these comments if you read them.

I do like jays vidoes. not a fan of Volvo myself, I think they're a hugely overrated vehicle. big tractor unit, yet quite small internally.good gearbox, with superb gear selection. Daf anyday for me despite a slow gearbox..
