When I drove in Ireland from Dublin in June this year for the first time I set the Garmin sat nav to kms, set up the destinations, set up the blocks to avoid the toll on the Dublin port motorway before boarding, and zoomed off. The traffic lights were the hardest part, going straight from Red to Green without the amber time to wake up phase. Dublin old part resembles London, in all its aspects. The countryside is beautiful but empty. Plenty of space for those EU boat trippers...

Hi Martyn. At 27:50: The plate on the other motorcycle starts 182, indicating that it was issued in 2018 during the second half of the year. The C indicates it was issued in Cork.

Good video Martyn. Nice to see you over here. Just a bit of pointless information for the future 😊… since 2013 the Irish vehicle reg system goes like this. The first two digits are the year and the third is the part of the year 1 = Jan to Jun and 2 = Jul to Dec. The next letter(s) indicates the county of registration. The third section is just a consecutive number of registration assigned to each vehicle. You can, for a fee reserve one of those numbers though i.e. if you were lucky enough to be purchasing a new 911 you could reserve 911. 212-L-1234 is a vehicle registered in Limerick in the second half of 2021. From 1987 to 2012 we just used two digits at the start of the reg that indicated the full year. From a fellow Martin

The 182 on the Irish BMW up in front of you on the ferry indicates the bike was registered in the second half of 2018.

Hi Martyn. My brother and his wife are in Ireland on holiday at the moment. They've just left Cork, and on their way to other places at the moment. Looks a little overcast to say the least, but views look lovely🤣. Your mic sounds fine, can't hear any wind noise. Although, when you stop, that is when you hear the sound of silence is actually deafening😊. May not be the case, but have a look for a new helmet when in Ireland, the cost may be cheaper than here, but as I say, might be the case. Just watching as you drive down to the port, and I watched a video of Mozza not so long ago, and he was delivering a vehicle into Ireland, and I'm almost positive he used the Fishguard ferry. Saw the two coaches as you drove onto the ferry, and thought that my brother and his wife would be on one of them, but they weren't on those, they went with Legers. I just wish though on Sat Navs, when it says fast or slow route, motorway, etc, they'd include a scenic route. Then it wouldn't take you straight onto a fast road. The Dunbrody is what's called a Famine Ship taking immigrants to the new world. The ship was built (this one's a replica) was built in Quebec. Its a floating museum

I used to load wheat and barley out of wexford town and kilkenny aswell....lovely part of Ireland.....when you're heading back down the road on thursday you'll actually pass one of surefreight's yards at Newry just before you cross the border back into the republic of ireland and you'll be just 2 miles from our house aswell....safe journey and we're loving the video of your trip

Hey martin, you are going to love Ireland. I lived in Galway for 10 years, but back in blighty now. I miss it nearly every day. A couple of things -- Are you aware you can switch the bikes dash to read in km/h instead of mp/h? It'll likely be buried in the settings somewhere, all digital dash's are capable of this afaik. Also, a quick explanation of Irish number plates -- The bike in front of you on the ferry was registered in 2018, 2nd half, in Cork. This is easy to tell as the plate began with 182-C -- The first two numbers are the year, and the third number is the half of the year in which it was registered. The Letter denotes county in which it was registered. Where you are right now is KilKenny, so KK is the local plates. After the letter, its just a serial number, and in places like Dublin, you'll see these going into the 5 digits.
