My wife and I Love the info you and your wife have posted over your learning with Werner. We have been watching all the videos because I have recently retired from a company I worked at for 22 years and decided to upgrade from a class B and see the country. I was looking at a few companies but mainly one's that my Wife and dog would be allowed to ride along and your investigations into other companies helped alot so much appreciated. Already have a pre- hire letter from Werner. Just tying up loose ends. Lol, my Wife is a big fan and keeps saying that she hopes we see you all out on the road. Best of luck and keep posting.

Congratulations Dan!!! That is fabulous!! Yes...seeing the country and getting paid to do it was one of our main motivations! Had the same issue with trailers at the company I drove for. Most times we did Drop & Hook, and the previous driver did not report damage, flat tires, missing lights, broken reefer,etc. Almost once a week got stuck at a shop getting a trailer repaired so DOT wouldn’t but me out of service😕. Get that trailer to the shop, don't get it loaded first... it needs to stay empty.... cornet leaks are hard to fix....... thanks for looking at this..... the last driver should have noted this to the company... and not just put it off for the next driver... have a great day.....

Thanks David!! You are right. Kevin did wait for a bit to see if there was a load assignment, which there wasn't in a timely manner. So we took it to the terminal. The first few months Kevin got A LOT of trailers with problems and wasted a lot of hours taking care of trailer issues. They do have a regular maintenance program at Werner for trailers and tractors. And this one was obviously fixed before. Kevin only knew it had an issue because it was a live unload and he went in to clean up after and then saw the light.

See this all the time at Werner. Some drivers drop damaged or defective trailers without reporting them to maintenance.

If there is anything wrong with trailer but it’s still technically legal I will wait till I drop it to report it. That way it can b fixed while I’m on to the next load.

Very understandable, as it will eat into your work time. As long as it's reported I think they can send people out or get it into the system for repairs. Thanks for sharing your approach!

If I can still legally drive it, I'll wait until my 10hr break to get it fixed. 👍🏼 That way I'm not using any of my 14 waiting for the repair.

If your 70 is running down... get off camera and go! 😂😂😂 How often does Big Kev run out his 14? I swear I find myself always working the full 14. I wanna run 11 and shutdown 😂

That’s what we want to do. But short runs and waiting for load assignment or dropping and hooking or live load/unload eats up that clock fast. Kevin always pushes to finish his 11. So often that means he uses the whole 14. And in this case we couldn’t get going because we had no assignment. Eventually gave up and called it a week and headed to the terminal.

@The Joy of Trucking got it. Yup... all part of trucking. I've had a few weeks where I was able to just run 11 and shutdown but that was after I yelled at my driver manager about short runs 😂
