That, was Telegraph Hill ascending from the Splatford Split! I went up the other way to Plymouth carrying two tractors in 1st gear and was seriously beginning to think I'd have to take them off and drive them to the top! And Wellington was named after the Duke of Wellington and the monument you may have seen to your right is Wellington Monument!

Tim from experience you should avoid hanging air fresheners on the handbrake handle, depending how strong they will start melting/peeling the plastic where they hang, will also start fading the colours, you might notice overtime especially if you start hanging more

Hi Tim, here is some Christmas cheer....A1 Wentbridge Viaduct and Wentedge Road Bridge... Lifting of roadworks between November and January We'll be lifting the contraflow arrangement currently on the A1 between Barnsdale Bar and Ferrybridge between November and January. This aims to reduce congestion in the run-up to the festive period and into the New Year. From 16 November, there will be two lanes running northbound between Barnsdale Bar and Ferrybridge. From 21 November, there will be two lanes running southbound. Traffic management will be reinstated from 3 January to allow us to complete the pier demolition at Wentedge Road Bridge and continue with the other essential works. When we start to reinstate the traffic management, the following overnight closures are scheduled: Northbound - 3, 5 and 6 January Southbound: 7, 8 and 9 January (with 10 January scheduled as a further contingency date) . We will then need to close Wentedge Road over the bridge deck from February 2025 until August 2025. This is necessary to safely remove the central pier and temporarily support the bridge.

Early morning Wellington musings and ending in a terpsichorean wellington event!😆 P.S. Always allow plenty of extra time for the morning and evening rush hours around Oxford, and avoid going north on the A34 past Oxford after mid-day on Fridays as the queue can start just after Abingdon on a bad Friday! 11:40 that's Haldon Hill its notorious for being steep, a lot of trucks tend to go round the right side towards Plymouth as its less steep and then double back to over to totnes that way. when it snows, traffic will regularly get snowed in there, roughly 5-7 years ago it snowed really bad that cars had to be abandoned as everyone was snowed in.

11:18, Tim whack it into manual mode and drop it down a couple of gears and climb that hill a 1800rpm and you should be able to maintain about 40mph. I've never taken a truck there but plenty of coaches, same running gear pretty much. Doesn't help if someone slows you down on the approach.

At some point in the early 1800s Arthur Wellesley, then Viscount Wellington, asked his shoemaker, Mr George Hoby of St James's Street, London, to make a boot which was easier to wear with the new trousers. Hoby removed the tassel and cut the boots lower to make them more comfortable for riding.
