As an american truck driver, i can tell you a few things. 1. Every truck i have driven has had even number MPH indicator (10,20,30,40,50, ect.) with a longer line halfway between them. 2. yes we still use CB radios, but they are loosing popularity though. 3. at night time, it is very common to be the only one around for miles, or only seeing other semi's. 4. horns do sound like that if you use the steering wheel horn, but every tuck i have been in and seen has air horns standard. 5. I have never had reverse beeping sounds. 6. I have never stayed at a hotel room while on the road, that is what a sleeper cab is for. 7. 18 speeds are common, but we also have a lot of other ones. So you should set your shifting to 18 with 2 reverse gears. (trust me, if this game is anything like america, you will need 2 reverse gears. that low gear will power your booty up anything. :D )

+Deadlylyon15 Is not having reverse beeping noises a bit dangerous? Seems like it would be to me, but I've never driven a truck so I don't know.

do you count crawler gears into the 18 speed? so 16+2 crawlers.
@thegamemaster2000
@thegamemaster2000 9 жыл бұрын
Ryan Brett I guess it depends on what you consider a crawler gear. I know in most semi's, if you have less than 16 tons, you can skip most of your lower gears. but a typical semi will have 16-18 forward gears, and 2 reverse gears (hi and lo reverse).

+Pewpew gaming and productions in Australia its pretty common to see long noses aswell I have never seen a cab over like the ones in ETS2 but my favourite kind of truck is a peterbuilt, one of the old square shaped ones, but I have never seen one. we mostly see kennworths everwhere or scanias, someone needs to make an Australian truck sim, I don't mean were I live 2. in the middle of Australia truck sim you spend up to a month or so on the road in the middle of no where not a person for miles, on dirt roads through deserts and dangerous storms. I think both people in amrica and Europe would be amazed

12:53 Yeah, I get that feeling all the time when I travel long distance. There is always that one car that stays with me for 2-3 hours. Then, when they finally turn off at an exit, it leaves me feeling sad for some reason. It is ridiculous, but it is interesting how our minds work that way.

U.S. truck driver here. You, sir, got me hooked on Euro Truck Sim 2, and now you've got me hooked on this one as well. Cannot wait for its release here! Though I'm intrigued as to why the semi trailer is only 40' long. The vast majority of trailers here are 48' to 53' long, save for most shipping containers. Hehe, I wonder if we'll see a mod for a "turnpike double" (two 48' or 53' trailers in tandem) some day. Cheers!

The speedometers here in America vary by car manufacturers. My 08 Impala goes up by factors of 20 from 0-140. My Dodge pickup truck goes up by factors of 10 from 0-120. I'm assuming that's just Kenworths design in speedometers.

Just a note, Pedro Stopping Center at 15:19 is supposed to be Petro Stopping Center. Basically it's a truck stop. They are a national chain of truck stops here in America. (For those who don't know). Also for that backup Paul, you could have done a 180 degree jackknife reverse. (That's what I call it. Some people call it differently.) Basically you jackknife the truck while backing up and rotate the trailer on its tires. At the 17:03 mark, you would have been set up for it. You then can keep the reverse a sight side versus a blind side like you did. Just personal preference. Nice job on that blind side though. It is really difficult to see while doing it in real life. However, you might have been able to look through the sleeper window to help out.

12:10 - 13:15 that part reminds me of the days I'd just go on trips with my mom and dad here in Costa Rica. We would travel to the northern or southern part of the country straight from the capital and we used to travel at night like that. We usually would catch up to trucks, understandably, and it definitely feels better having company either behind or in front. I guess as long as the journey was quiet and all, I wouldn't mind but it gets scary considering your vehicle can get stuck in the middle of nowhere and no one would be there to help immediately. But anyways, great video! I enjoyed it. I like quiet and chill runs like this :D

Hi. Paul, The speed limit that's posted on the white signs are for everyone trucks, bus and cars. If you see a yellow sign with a speed limit that's the suggested speed limit, sometimes you'll see yellow signs with arrows along with the suggested speed...you'll see them on a sharp curve or when going down a hill that has sharp curves. If you see a yellow sign with a tractor trailer going down hill with yellow speed limit sign, those are the required speed limit for tractor trailers when going down a steep incline. By the way my name is Paul also, from Pennsylvania USA

If you've lived in america all your life, the speed limit signs are more obvious, although you can still miss them occasionally. For instance, way out in the country, bushes grow up and hide them. The bushes are cut back obviously, but they are still there sometimes.

06:33 - Anyone else notice there are both a STOP sign and a TRAFFIC signal at this intersection? Lol, oops! Guess they missed that one. Oh, and we here in USA don't have our speeds change so often as seen in this game. I am thinking the devs made so many speed changes to help us navigate the courses. But on average we utilize three speeds, city - highway - interstate. And most of us are driving 5-15 mph over the posted limit. Cheers!
@Robbedem
@Robbedem 9 жыл бұрын
+The Able Gamer I don't think there's anything wrong with that. In Europe it's done all the time in case the traffic lights are not working (failure or just turned off for the night)
@Robbedem
@Robbedem 9 жыл бұрын
In Europe we use a hierarchy: policemen are the highest, then traffic lights, than signs and last is the rule that who comes from the right is allowed first. So if there is a policemen at an intersection, you have to follow his orders, no matter what the other signs/traffic lights show. If there is an intersection with traffic lights and signs, you follow the traffic lights. If the is nothing, you follow the last rule. So an intersection with traffic lights and signs is nothing special. You just follow the traffic lights, unless they don't work, then you follow the signs.
@TAG-rq7ii
@TAG-rq7ii 9 жыл бұрын
Robbedem We too have a similar hierarchy. However; we don't put signs at the intersections where there are lights. Typically if the lights go out of sequence they will begin to flash red only on and off. This means it is now a four way stop. And if there are no lights working at all, then you pray the other drivers no to respond to it as a four way stop.

Ryan W i know, but I don't have enough exposure to the unit of measurement, so that I can grasp the concept that well. To put this into perspective, I know that a mile is roughly 1,6 km, but i have never used it, so at higher numbers, it gets messy.

Game looks great. Only a few things seem off. At 6:33 you approach an intersection with a Stop sign AND a traffic light. lol..It would be either/or, never both. There also seems to be far too many classic cars driving around. It would appear that at least 40% of the US population owns and drives classic automobiles on a daily basis. But still looks great...can't wait!

Car speedometers are most of the time 20, 40, 60, 80 etc. Depends on manufacturer. Trucks at limited to 55mph in the US, thats why almost all of them go for half units.

I know completely what you mean by another truck being like having company. I've never driven trucks like this, but I've gone on a few long road trips through the middle of nowhere, and have had that very mindset with vehicles that were behind or in front of me(and gotten sad when they turned off, haha).

the black part next to the sat nav houses more analog gauges in a real truck. all US vehicles count in 5's (5,15,25,35 ect) you might be able to get you mpg lower if you shift properly. in an American truck you should up shift at 16-17 rpm and downshift at 12-13.

Speed limits in America range 25 35 45 55 65. So the speedos are ALMOST always in 5s. Sometimes there is a 30 or 70 limit. Not that often though.

It's great to see they started with the west coast as I've lived there most of my life. Probably some of the most fun driving I've done has been on those roads. They did a great job of re-creating northern California but something just seems a bit off. I don't think it's scaled very well, as Sacramento is very flat with very few mountains.

It's common for non-commercial vehicles to have the *10* format while most commercial trucks use the *5* format, simply because truckers will encounter sections of roadways where how effective your braking is will matter. A car can easily lower their speed to the nearest 10 mile compared to a semi/lorry transitioning to the next lowest gear in the process. A lot of rural roadways have a split speed restriction whereas cars will need to drop from 55 to 30 MPH, while a truck will need to drop from 55 to 25 MPH 'cuz the extra "5" MPH will be the deciding factor of you surviving or crashing. This is my assumption but at least it's something.

Speed limit 20 or 25 for school zones. 35mph usually in a small town or like a downtown. 45 usually outskirts of the town or if youre in suburbs area. 55 on frontage road or access roads whatever you wanna call it. 65 or 60 for City freeway. 75 on interstates sometimes even 85. SPeed limits that are transitioning like say 75 and then it goes down to 55 means that theres something ahead thats a sharp turn or a town coming up. I agree the white sign boards suck. I got pulled over doing 90mph on a 65 at night time with no lights. So hard to see. lol

although it is more realistic to have the (where to park) option ON. Truckers get to their destination and they stop "get out" and find out where to park. yes it's more convenient to have it automatically go to Skilled parking at you get there but in real life you get there stop and figure out where to park and the park

On about company on the road, t's true, you make the best of whoever is around. When I did my coast to coast US road trip, the East wasn't so bad, plenty of traffic, but once you get to mid west between Oklahoma City and California, you can drive 50+ miles with seeing anyone, and with many of the roads straight for miles and miles, you soon get bored and lonely. So what I learned quickly is once you find someone, see if they'll play, overtake them or slow down to encourage them to, and if they are game, repeat after a few miles. Yeah, it might mean you drive a little slower overall, but it definitely makes things much more interesting, especially if they are the opposite sex, can add the odd smile in there too.

There is many states in U.S. that the trucks speed limit is the same as the cars speed limit. The reason why its 45 and 55 is because 45 mph = 72 kmh and 44 mph is 70 kmh so they wouldn't put 44mph. 55 mph = 88 kmh and 56 mph = 90 kmh
