Yeah man. My dad has been a trucker for at least 30 years. I used to go out with him on summer vacation when I was a kid. Trucking now is kinda of micro managed. Now you’re told what routes to take, when to get fuel, where to get fuel. Everything but the driving is pretty much done for you now. You used to have to use an atlas and actually trip plan and know what roads you could use and where you would have to stop for fuel. It definitely used to be harder. The good part of that is, I was taught to use an atlas at a pretty young age and it’s a skill I still try and practice to this day. Between knowing how to use an atlas and being taught map reading and navigation when I was in the army, I’m pretty efficient with it all and very confident in my ability to travel without a gps.

I will say one thing you need to familiarize yourself with an atlas because there will be times you will want it if you don’t have service for your phone or whatever the case may be. It’s always good to know how to use and read an atlas

Great video Dillon. You did the right thing on the locked trailer brakes. Usually when you back up on them they will break free. Love it brother safe travels ....👍🤙

Always do slow “S” turns when you start driving when cold. You can see all the tandem wheels then doing the S turns. Also if you pull/push trailer brakes valve several times and it may unlock brakes. Unless on a hill, don’t pull the trailer brake, just set the tractor/parking brakes or chock wheels….You could also pour some hot water over the drums (microwave or kettle)…FYI👍👍👍

Hi. I enjoy your videos. Spend hours watching them. It’s nice to here some of gods word in there as well. What does Roehl start the new drivers out at per mile? Did they pay you while you were at their facility training as well? Thanks and God Bless you and your family

Yeah, with the trailer and the wheels being fsome. People don't set their trailer when they park. And if you want to be safer , you can put wheel Chock if you have it in your stow away compartment. And I may be starting a local trucking job soon so see how that goes. Be safe out there I just I should let you know that little interest in Fun fact. Mentor that I had used to do that all the time. And told me to just set the tractor not the trailer didn't know why but you just basically Shown the reason why and he did explain that to me , and I was like okay, but it's usually during the cold weather and and things like that. And sometimes they get stuck, sometimes they don't. And this guy had over Over 5 years experience, so I was like. Oh okay, I didn't know Hey, ask around about that and see what anyone else says I'm not gonna tell you to do something from my experience, and then it not worked out for you, but ask around and ask around to see if people do that. Cause I'm pretty sure they do just for that reason. Oh and Possibly draining the air tanks just in case of water.

Who pays for your fuel? The company or you?
@bluegrassoutdoors8 ай бұрын
The company if you are a company driver like me. If you are an owner operator you have to pay your own fuel. Good question 👍
