Looks like you are learning heaps and seeing lots of interesting places Dillon! I have ridden on that Texas airport Skyway. I think your family will love the fridge magnets.

Hello Brett! I have certainly had a lot of new experiences since I’ve started trucking. I’m loving it so far! The skyway was very neat! The plane rides as well. I’ve always been afraid to fly. But it was actually pretty relaxing a lot of the time. I’m excited to get my own truck. Another week or so and I should have my training complete 👍 It’s great to hear from you, as always 🙏

Thank you very much 🙏 I really miss having an axe in my hand. I plan to bring one with me in my truck, if I’m able! I was disappointed at first as well with the delay. I’m very happy to know they counted toward my training days at least. We are heading to Texas next. I’m excited to see that state. Thank you very much for your kind, supportive words. That means a lot. God bless and it’s good to hear from you 🙏

I love the ole Bologna sandwiches 😆 Especially fried! We are heading to your state next. A place called Katy, Texas. I’m excited to see some of Texas. I have only ever seen the airport and what I saw from the plane. I haven’t seen a hardwood country video for awhile 🪵 🪓 It’s good to hear from you Anthony.

I would like to speak with you. I am about to start my journey to get my CDL with this company and I wanted some insight this is a brand new thing for me. I currently work as a paramedic only on the weekend so I decided to get my CDL. I did get my permit here in New York and I was actually talking to a recruiterand they got me set up to go to Georgia on October 7. I do have a family and four daughters and a wife and I just wanted to know based on your experience how was that being away from them and your experience in the training portion of the CDL and then you are over the road training.

@rafaelcorretjer9811 I recommend getting local in the long run or possibly becoming an owner operator so you can make your own schedule. For me, Otr was something that I knew from the beginning would not be long term for me, because of my family. But it is great experience and you can make good money while doing it. I also prefer accounts that send you to one branch, like the family dollar or Walmart. You don't have to deal with guard shacks, finding new locations, etc. But I am happy that I made the choice to get my cdl, and I do believe it can be a life changing job in many good ways. The gycdl program, time with a trainer, and the otr experience was great for me, for the most part. I just did not like the no touch fright account with Roehl. The shippers and receivers were very rude towards truckers. I left there and went to us xpress and loved that account. It was $1700 per week, and only family dollars and the attitudes were so much better, but their home time was only 34 hours per week, and they didn't have set schedules at all. So you can get home Friday or get home Tuesday. I did not like that at all. I am starting with schnieder soon doing only Walmarts, no touch freight, and around $1400 per week. 48 hours home per week and 5 days working. The account and company that you for have a huge impact on how much you enjoy the job, in my opinion 👍

@@bluegrassoutdoors thank you for the input. I appreciate it. I’m just debating on leaving my family for three weeks. I have never been apart from my family so this is going to be something new but my wife is very supportive and she said it’s only three weeks think of it as a new chapter of your life, and we will be there every step of the way so that gives me a little bit of comfort but I know that I’m gonna miss my family

@rafaelcorretjer9811 That part bothered me as well, but it was nowhere newr as bad as I thought it would be. I used Google Meet to speak to them on my phone and see them on there every day, and I was so occupied with the goal that time went by fast. I agree with your wife. It is 3 weeks, but it's a huge step that will open up huge opportunities for you. But then it's a matter of how you feel about otr. Once you get some experience, local companies will hire you as well, so you can be home every night and still make good money.

@bluegrassoutdoors I was on Two weeks in one week go. Unfortunately, Circumstance. That I was not a part of but apparently it was. And yeah, I do remember when I was going to the classes at the school and yeah, I had to slow down myself as breakfast was good. Have A Awesome cafeteria there. I kind of thought they were trying to fatten Up or something. Problem was I should not have went directly when I left the other Company But I need money to carry me over for the next two the three weeks That's what bit me in the rear. I went back home. People that were not supposed to be there. Got me caught up in something. I was totally unaware of. And that's why i'm not there. Because of somebody else's stupidity and A stupid habit of theirs. And it cost me.

Good luck to you Dillon on your new adventure. The road can get really lonely, especially when you are out there solo. Stay away from those eye opening pills and keep it between the lines. Tell Carter I said hello. He is the man of the house now while you are away. That is quite a step up for a little man like him. But I know he will handle it just fine. I hope you can get a route close to home so you can spend time with your family. The excitement will wear off before long and you will be leaving out on a run like it’s nothing more than going to the 200 acre woods for another load of firewood. Stay focused you are going to be a good over the road driver.

Thank you very much Garry 🙏 it’s great to hear from you! I am loving trucking so far. Even more than I thought I would. I’m very blessed to have been put with a great trainer as well. I’ve heard some stories of people getting bad trainers and I was worried about that. I told Carter about this comment and what you said about him being the man of the house. I could tell he liked it by his response haha! I hope you and your family have been been blessed. One day when you are free maybe I can come see the axe collection and buy some from you for me and Carter.

ignore the nay sayers, I was making $13 an hour just spinning my wheels and decided to get my CDL through Halvor Lines in Superior WI, and it has changed my life financially. It can be hard work, and lonely but it beats being screamed at behind a counter. You have to have a work ethic and be humble, and ask questions. There will always be doors open now, this job is about having the right attitude- reject negativity. You're gonna do great!@@bluegrassoutdoors
