How come most everyone never used the trailer like it was designed to disperse weight theirs widen brackets on the trailer to turn out and add planks so load sits on the wider trailer
@dotbearwoodworking93422 жыл бұрын
Whoa !!! Hold up on that carwash gentlemen!!! I love the phrase "Me and Matt did some math!! I have a little different of an outcome by my calculations lol! 1/2 Working Load Limit required to be covered. 393.106(d) 393.130 Securement of Large Equipment (10,001+ lbs.) 4 independent securement device per corner 1 securement device over boom/bucket. You get 50% of the Working load limit from the load to machine (393.106(d)(1)) You get 100% of the Working load limit for a securement on the bucket attached from one side to the other side (393.106(d)(3)) So let's do some DOT math!! 3/8 grade 70 chain WLL of 6600 lbs. Binders WLL 9600 lbs. Must use the weaker of the two WLLs 55,000 Weight of 210 27,500 Working Load Limit required to be covered. 6,600 x 4 = 26,400 26,400 x.50% = 13,200 WLL for the four corners. 6600 WLL for the chain and binder over the boom/bucket 13,200 + 6,600 = 19,800 total WLL SO ....... 19,800 WLL when 27,500 WLL NEEDED..... OOS!!!! on the 210 load securement!!! Let's take a look at Bubba !!! Volvo A 30 46,000 Operating Weight 23,000 WLL needed to be covered 6,600 x 4 = 26,000 26,000 x.50% = 13,200 four corners WLL 13,200 +6,600 (center chain) = 19,800 SO >>> 19,800 total WLL when 23,000 WLL was needed.... OOS on the Bubba Dump MOVE!!! 393.130 Articulated vehicles require minimum of 4 corners and the center articulation secured as well. No wonder you take so long to post so the virtual tickets get lost in the mail!!! So 2 OOS loads for not enough working load limits, Faded Signage, rolled thru a stop sign, improper use of horn .... what's up with that left light on trailer??

30:15 I think I saw a guy hauling equipment two days ago with just the solution you might look into. Passed a heavy hauler heading south on I-15 with a 644 John Deere loader and he had those monster J hooks like tow trucks use to hook to the eyelets on the loader. Not sure on the J hook's weight rating but that might be worth looking at as an option, save you from cutting up the machine and probably useful for tow hooks on combines that get stuck in the mud.

Move'n equipment is the part I hate and it's also potentially the most dangerous. I hauled my Ford 6610 tractor on the dozer trailer to the tire shop yesterday for two new inner tubes and exchanging the calcium fill for the non-corrosive fill. On the way there, about ten vehicles ahead of me, a tractor trailer passed a buggy, on a hill, with on-coming traffic clearly insight, and only by the grace of God - did everyone go home that day safe and sound. The on-coming car was missed by inches and the buggy by the same. People just don't get it: horses are not rational beings. They are fight and flight creatures. All the passengers in the buggy could have been killed and the horse gravely injured. Here's the hard part, just a few miles down the road: a different driver did almost he same thing. Great video! Thanks, Mike and Matt. Lee

In 1976 or 77, the WVDOH purchased some Ford A62 loaders, after a while we started losing turbos on a few of them. When Ford started checking, they found that when the machines were loaded, 2 to a truck, one was facing forward, one to the rear. The ones facing the rear were the only ones that had to have the turbos replaced. After checking with the trucking company they found that the stacks weren't being covered. They started covering the stacks and the problem disappeared.

Over 3' of rear tire hanging off of each side of the trailer and less than 1' of tire actually on the trailer. Almost the entire trailer deck width covered by the front tire. Hey Mike, I've drove truck for over 40 years and the one of the things I learned along the way was not to punch the throttle after each shift. Why? It'll save you replacing your universal joints and carrier bearings and maybe a drive-line or two. Unnecessary torque destroys universal joints. So easy into the throttle after each shift and save you problems down the road or on the side of the road. You won't find that in any preventative maintenance handbook. 💪🏻👍

Hi Mike. Trev from Queensland, Australia. Just like to run this past you and get your thoughts...years ago when I first began to "float" both trucks and machinery around, I was instructed that if the "floated" item was fitted with a turbo engine and its exhaust was facing the direction of travel, then I had to make sure that the exhaust outlet was securely covered (either duct-tape, or piece of rag secured with duct-tape) to prevent that exhaust outlet from scooping in air. As you know, when an engine stops, sometimes both valves in a cylinder can be slightly open at same time, and this allows that scooped in air (which is pressurised due to speed of travel) to flow backwards through the engine, which will then cause the turbo to spin without lubrication (due to said engine being stopped) and therefore damage the turbine bushes/bearings. Being mechanically minded, this made perfect sense to me. What are your thoughts on this? I enjoy your videos. Cheers to you and your family...Trev.
