I found out the reason I couldn't find any Canyons on the lot was because GM had put a stop on all of them recently to fix more software issues. For 50k+, there shouldn't be so many reports of transmission and software issues all over the place. There are incentives everywhere I look on full size trucks, to the extent that you can find a similarly equipped one for less than mid-size! But, having owned a 2019 Silverado before, full size is simply too much truck for my uses. Too big and too bulky for me. I like the slick bed of the taco. Ultra gritty rhino lining is a pain in the as* to slide things across. I can always strap items down. But most of the time I’m sliding items in and out. With no line X gritty texture, I don’t have to climb into the bed and lift things out most of the time. Also the steel/ aluminum beds get dented like crazy. Even reasonably small rocks dent them. Yes, it should have. I really don't get why so many just ignore the frontier. Sure, it isn't as fancy as these but price to feature it crushes them. I do like TFL too but the issue with them is they are high elevation, so it gives unfair advantage to a turbo engine and aren't really comparable numbers to where I live.

Just purchased a 2024 Frontier Pro 4X, on sale now around 40k! Just did first 300 mile Arizona road trip, 23-24 mpg! 3.8 V6, no turbo, solid motor - before this I had a 2007 V8 Tundra - loved it, great truck too! Some of these other new trucks now though, way over priced and overrated IMHO. I say, check back in 8-10 years and see who’s still running strong…

Fuel cost is missing as this was my main concern when I ordered a 2024 2 Wheel drive as I'm getting 24mpg combine today as this cost keeps going up over the years.

A deep dive into the problems with TDI vs Port+TDI systems would serve this audience well. Especially at these prices I wouldn’t buy a TDI engine only to have to deal with the guaranteed inevitable valve problems on down the road.

Great video!! I have thought I wanted the hybrid Tacoma, but I would be willing to give that up to get the towing functionality and back seat room of the Ranger. Then, if Ford brings the Ranger PHEV to Canada and it has not lost too much towing capability, it might be the one to get.

Hi! I’m thinking of getting a preowned mid or full-sized pickup truck as daily work truck. I have a commute of 40 mile one-way (1.5 hrs) then another 1hr drive home in horrid SoCal traffic. I haul mostly network cabling installation equipment in the bed, and do not tow. What brand, model year, engine and grade do you recommend? I would like to have some of the newer active safety features such as the automatic emergency braking system to avoid front collisions, but not as critical as long-term reliability and durability. Any suggestions for a late model pickup truck with Direct and Port Injection. Also, what immediate and affordable engine and transmission mods for reliability and durability do you recommend to protect the powertrain? I’m not looking for more power, just long-term reliability and durability as I don’t have too much money and need a truck for work and personal use. Thank you!

I was very close to trading out of my Silverado into a Colorado a few years ago but Colorado had transmission problems brand new from the factory. The problem with midsize trucks is the reliability isn’t as good as full sized and the price is just as high.

Got both of the GM twins, but no Ridgeline? Could have subbed one of them out I think.....
@gsalemi19547 ай бұрын
For off road and snow it’s all about the tires first and second is ground clearance. The Chevy with its raised Trail Boss and 1 inch higher on top of that…the ZR2 which has the best ground clearance. And by the way since it’s raised you can buy bigger tires that will still fit with the factory lift. The Raptor is raised with awesome tires but the Tacoma lags far behind them

Should have replaced one of the GM products with the Frontier. The Frontier was redesigned 2 years ago and that's considered old?
@damiensiojrin32015 ай бұрын
Reliability is my main concern. With these new trucks I don’t know the longevity with them until time goes by with further driving and reviews. I’ll stick with the old and reliable until I know for sure that these turbos aren’t crap.

My in-laws sold their taco because they literally can't put a rear facing child seat in the back. While that may not matter to some, think about that, a baby doesn't fit.
@ALMX5DP7 ай бұрын
Did they not scoot the front passenger seat forward a bit?
@EC_ATV_Outdoors7 ай бұрын
@@ALMX5DP yes, but it became unsafe to drive for the person. He was skinny, but 6'3 maybe 6'4. But even a RAM quad cab, the back seat is fine for an adult, but a rear facing seat had me too close to the steering wheel. I could still operate with safety, but not comfortably. And they really wanted to keep the taco, but with me having 4 various car seats to try (yeah, I have lots of kids), none worked out for the rear facing setup. If your kids are in boosters, the only issue would be dirty feet on the back of the front seats.

I thought they got rid of the lower HP Chevy tune on the base models.
@heroofharo4 ай бұрын
The colorado base engine, its worth noting, they dont just detune it. They use weaker internals. A chevy engineer discussed it in regards to rhe tuning, the base 2.7 could theoretically but flashed to the higher power levels, but it wouldnt be especially safe or reliable. The now discontinued mid level engine was flashable because it had the same internals as the HO version and was arguably detuned (although chevy would say thats standard and the HO is just more aggressively tuned).

I built all of them sorta the way I'd spec them and there's not much between them. Heated seats are a must......probably the option i use the most(Alberta). Box size.....sigh Tacoma is a big vehicle when you add the larger box. Prices.....all were in 54-57K C$(GM the highest) Options and packages add up in a hurry. And as usual you may want one thing but are forced to take a package worth thousands to get it. I still don't like the look of the Tacoma,yet to see a new Ranger,and the GM/Chev look good. The 2.7L in the Ranger.....I'd be going that route😊
