I grew up with highschool friends who joined opposing vietnamese gangs to 5t. Some ended up dead, some are drug addicts, some recovering from old injuries that disable them for life. It's a hard. Some of these kids grew up with domestic violence because their fathers were drunks or suffering from ptsd. They were just children whose only family is their friends. At that time, I didn't have the perspective I have now and thought, gangs were a cool thing because no one would pick on you. Luckily my brothers and I we didn't join any gangs and that's maybe because we had a more stable family.
@edenandelibesties2182 Жыл бұрын
My brother joined a Vietnamese gang in the 90s in Australia. He was too much of a softie to do anything violent so they left him selling drugs and watching drug houses. Most of his friends died in the early 2000s. He, himself was in and out of prison throughout his twenties and died at 33 in 2012. At his funeral many gang members did attend to show respect. It was fkn weird to have a gang boss express condolences to my mother, even told my mother what a good kid my brother was.

I remember coming to Australia in 1981, our family was lucky to live in north shore suburb Brookvale. However a group of young (age 18+) Vietnamese boys that use to hang out in Bankstown, rented out a room at my parents apartment. They were very nice to my parents and me. One day in 1983-84 a group of them came back home to my parents place with battle wounds, I assume they were in a gang fight. Then my family move and never seen those boys again. As the years went by, I asked my parents about those boys, one by one in the 1990s my parents updated me of their deaths.

But were just doing whatever they wanted for so long, had short term goals and were more in the present, the death of Newman and constant open dealing, shootings, brought way too much heat which resulted in their downfall
