FamousMortimer Tell you what I've spent some time in studios and I genuinely thought it was the same recording until I read your comment and listened more closely and you might be right. The guitar is definetely another one based on the ending of the song. Might just have put another guitar over the original vocal track and remastered it, and that's why the voice seems altered.

Adam Sjöberg I listened to the trailer clip again, and they definitely remastered it. The guitarist in this version is using a more basic variation of the chords used in the original trailer clip (the strumming here is different). The effects in her voice are pretty clear, too. The clip from the trailer has to be floating around somewhere.

feel like season 2 was less about corruption and more about overcoming depression... or maybe not overcoming it, but channeling it into something righteous. all of the characters seem clinically depressed in different ways. the tone, style, and music all perfectly capture that feeling of emptiness and hopelessness that depressed people feel. it's more realistic than season 1 was, and while season 1 was easier to digest, i liked this one better. it's like if the guy who wrote the wire stopped taking his zoloft.

James Chillcott "You're lovin' my due diligence" is most likely "Your loving, my due diligence," a structural parallel to "my small reprieves, your heart of gold." In the stanza, she sings of "a battlefield" and "a holy war," she and her lover the opposing forces. What was holy to her was "due diligence," making sure that everything was in its right place so she wouldn't be hurt. "Change will come to those who have no fear,/but I'm not her." What was holy to her lover was "loving," without her fear or rules: "[Y]ou never were the kind/who kept a rulebook near."

Saskobest Yeah, it shouldn't have carried the "True Detective" name, I think that hurt it more than anything. Too many people expected it to be the masterpiece that the first season was, which was damn near impossible. If it would have been a stand alone show with a different name it wouldn't have gotten as much hate. I thought it was a damn good show, especially the finale.

I love this song, the soundtrack to TD Season 2 is class. Don't know why so many people hated on season 2, granted it wasn't as good as season 1 but still it was full of good performances all round and the story was complex (I don't like to be spoon-fed basic stories that don't make you think, this storyline kept me guessing till the end and I really cared about the characters). For me it's better than S3 but not as good as S1 (but only just)...

I feel so fuckin alone, in this series almost every character has a deep wound that lead them to do or think important things. The friendships and love are truly real and worth to die for it, its not using emotions like chewing gum and throw it, every word and every moment had a meaning and special place. When I look around, I see fake and empty relationships which has no fuckin meaning and sense, people are giving up for each other for just shitty stuff. They can't handle another person who needs help and love, people always wanted a who ''complete person'' that never had a bothering stuff, never get sadness or bad day, just happy and charming all the time and ready to feed their ego, do the what they want. I can't handle this world, crying alone, looking all day the empty eyes, ordinary lives, senseless relationships, bullshit talks. I feel alone, I feel a blackhole in my chest, I feel like I never get found something worth fighting or die for. This is why this song make me cry, I have nothing to worth fighting for.
